Curious ... Every year, Costco brings in tens of thousands of Musa basjoo into their garden centers. They're all idential, single pseudostems (no offsets), 4' tall and appear to have no variation what so ever. How would you accomplish this?
Cheers.

Tissue culture.

I've seen TC's from other sources and there was some variation such as stem thickness, off sets forming, even the growth rate.
The Costco clones must be in a very controlled environment. Thanks.

If they are all coming from one nursery, which is likely, then they are probably all from the same batch and are treated the same, so there would be a high degree of consistency. Also, they probably throw out the junky/non-uniform looking ones, so it's not a completely accurate depiction of all of the plants from that batch.

Thanks Gabe ... that clears up the questions I had.
Cheers, Barrie.
