Hi
My name is Jo. I'm in Ft. Myers Florida. My husband and I just moved to our new home and 5 acres of land.
I'm anxious to plant, plant, plant. From experience, patience is critical at this point. I have to pot up most of my future plantings. Since the water table gets very high during rainy season, I have to note the low spots that will hold water for a while. It'll be either fill, build up or plant appropriate plants. It'll be an experience.
Growing bananas is new to me. I've seen them around, but some people here are so strange. They cut the banana bunches and put them out for the trash, Go figure. If it doesn't taste like a Chiquita, it's gotta be no good.
I have a rather large collection of bromeliads and these are temporarily going under my 3 smallish live oaks. I'm hoping to get some rarer varieties of pineapple. The tops from store bought varieties grow very well here.
I'm looking forward to learning from the experienced people on this forum.
