Any ideas what can (if it is) be wrong with my Giant Bird of Paradise?
Sun, wind, water, nutrients,..., something else maybe?

Hmmm taking a guess here. The soil looks very dry, but can't really tell. Should be kept evenly moist. Have you checked the roots for damage? Could be damage from the leaf being against something very cold or too hot. Could also be a fungal or bacterial spot. Remove the bad leaves with a sterilized scissors. Check for scale or spidermites. If you in zone 9, you might get away planting in the groud as long as it doesn't get below 50 degrees. Also, if you've had this plant indoors over the winter and then just put it outside right away without acclimization to the sun, then you could be getting sun burn on the leaves. I do see a lot of curling on the lower leaves, which may indicate either not enough light, or not enough moisture. :2738:

Can you believe that I found a leaf on mine today after severe freezes and snow?!?! I'm sure it'll never get very large outdoors, but am still amazed at it's survival and plan to leave it out there.

Leaf curl + leaves starting to yellow = I think it might be a root problem. I could be wrong though.
How heavy is that potting mix? Dense potting mix can compact really well at the root zone and with too much moisture cause root rot and lead to health decline. Some plants handle such conditions better or worse than others...
Anyways my friend has several regular BOP that have worse looking leaves and they are always blooming their heads off and attract the ants. >__>
