Took a tour of the western Carribean recently and got some great banana pics as well as some of the regular tourist stuff.

Cartagena Columbia
Bananas and cannons. Such a peaceful looking setting within the Inquisition Palace. The rack, guillotine and other fun devices are right around the corner.

Panama – NW of the canal zone on the Pequeni river.
Two hour bus ride. Then a 15 mile trip upriver in a dugout canoe to an Embera Indian villiage.

Idyllic setting of hut with naners shot from dugout canoe. All the river huts are built on stilts cause at night things get scary. They got puma , bobcats and snakes running around. Like fer-de-lance. And big boas. And bird sized mosquitos. Oh my!

Limon, Costa Rica
Canal tour – bananas everywhere growing wild. Locals say no one picks the fruit. It’s left strictly for the birds. The howler and spider monkeys don’t touch them.

Another little riverside house. With banana walkway.

Thanks guys. It was a great trip. Hadn't done this kind of thing in some time. Princess cruise hit Aruba, the ones I mentioned and Jamaica. Ten days of total escape!

Tony - I know about the great fishing down there, but I left the rods at home. Would have liked to catch some tilapia in the river by the Embera villiage. Tilapia is one of their staples as well as plantains. They cooked both for all of us served up in pockets made of leaves - delicious.

That's beautiful thanks for sharing. I am looking for places like that to retire to. Im moving out of the states in 10 years or less.
