I tried the Dwarf Cavendish in Bermuda and they were very tastey, so I got a couple of them last year but they froze back to the ground and are just starting to come back at the present time. I don't think they are very cold hardy. I also have a Super Dwarf Cavendish and it's doing very good at the moment and did well duing the winter, it should fruit this year.

Hey Greg, good to hear about the Dwarf Namwah, I was hoping they were cold hardy as I have 2 on their way here from South Florida. I am in zone 9 also. I also hear they produce one of the tastiest fruit. I can't hardly wait.

Dwarf Namwah!

It was the first to be green after winter, it provides large bunches, and its a fast grower.

I'll go with 'California Gold'. The fruit I got off of mine last year was very tasty. Unfortunately, my 'Dw. Brazilian' fruit never had time to develop.

I guess for an overall favorite I would side with Jon "pitangadiego" and say: The one that is currently ripe!

Otherwise, you'll have to start being more specific. If we talk about ones that are cool-hardy, that will narrow it down to about five. In terms of production, there are 3-4 cool-hardy ones worth having. If we talk about flavors, there are about 5 distinct ones which all have their merits -- especially depending on personally taste preferences.

I haven't seen one for sale in a long time though...

The Dwarf Namwah!!! Great flavor. Fast grower. Good cool tolerance.

But don't let the mat run amok as I did. Keep it to one big one for fruit and 2 small pups.

This pic shows out of control mat with too many big pups.

The Dwarf Cavendish known as the Double or Twins, AKA Mahoi. Dwarf Namwa is really a good one also. :jalapenonaner:

My favorite aspect about SDC was that it continuously shot up new pups. I got to share it with several people last summer. :)
It's the banana that keeps on giving. Even though it doesn't fruit easily here, it makes a nice container plant.
