With regard to M.lawitiensis pollinations they are selfpollinators except var. sarawakensis which is pollinated by sunbirds.
Markku.
P.S. Wild bananas are pollinated in Borneo by bats or sunbirds.

Hi Dean,
Seeds of musa lawitiensis are very difficult to germinate.
Markku had tried to make seeds to germinate for years, but seeds had never germinated.

If you want musa lawitiensis, you need to save the money and go to Borneo to look for plants & collect the plants and import them to USA yourseft.
Watch out for mosquitoes & leeches.

Cheers

Clinton. :waving:

Good article Markku, thanks. A surprising tropical version, such thin fruit...

Dr. Marrku H.,

Your chart differentiating the characteristics of the described musa, is a most valuable tool that should be universally applied. Thank you for making the document available to us. Well done!! Your use of this tool in yunnanensis subspecies really helped also!! :-) !!! :jalapenonaner:
