I'm sitting here watching the old movie "South Pacific" and it's so beautiful to see all the tropical plants and vegetation. I know this is a banana forum but I think sometimes we grow these plants because of the tropical feeling we get even if we don't live in the southern latitudes. If you could go just one place to see all this stuff where would it be. Or, if you've been somewhere tropical or jungle-like that touched your heart, I would like to hear about it.

I would probably go to one of the Hawiian Islands where I didn't have to worry about it being too cold for my plants. Else, I would build a really big, green house to live and grow in (I know wishful thinking). I got that idea while visiting the local Botanical Gardens here for an orchid show. I also agree with Gander about the Keys. Was there when I kid and really like it.

If I could go just one place, it would be Cable Beach (http://www.westernaustralia.com/en/Pages/Attraction.aspx?pid=9000908) in Australia.
I've heard that it's one of the most beautiful beaches on this planet.

Hawaii is really beautiful. Anywhere in Hawaii by the beach could be the background on your computer desktop, its that beautiful (in fact the pics from my trip to Maui are on my computer desktop!). Bermuda doesnt have a huge amount of tropical vegetation, but it is frost free and the beaches are absolutely beautiful!
I've always wanted to go to Australia and I know they have beautiful beaches too. Just watch out for the stinging jellyfish and sharks! Maybe its best to stay out of the water, lol.

The Big Island of Hawaii! In fact it will come true June of 2012. That is the plan. We are going in July to continue to look at properties and schools for our girls. The town is Holualoa. It is above Kona. We have researched shipping the cars and all of our belongings. I am tired of the cold weather here! We really like Hawaiian culture and the people. Life is short and full of choices! Mine is to move!

Hawaii !!!
Or ANY zone 10 area!
I lived on Oahu from 2004 until 2009. Military moved me to New Jersey for a year and half :(
I'm moving back to Oahu this fall! :D

Oh there is a down side to living in Hawaii. Space is really limited. Although lots of property have small 'yards' it's nothing compared to the mainland.
If you get off Oahu, then space isn't an issue. When I retire in a few years, we'll be living one of the other islands. Oahu is just too crowded.

Now you've hit the nail on the head!
That's my philosophy too, just the other way around. :08: Fortunately it's so bad here and it's so bad everywhere, that it simply doesn't matter, where you are. :D

I've been to a few I would like to go back to and there are many I would still like to go to the problem is you always have to come back, at least that is how it has been.So to me it's not the one place I would like to go to, it's where is the place you don't want to come back from.

I lived in Panama and Belize for a while, but would love to see Hawaii and Borneo.
Belize was nice because I saw a lot of Tilandsias. I even saw one (Balbisiana) growing from the nose of a statue. It looked like a giant clump of nose hair. :D
