Here are a few shots from this morning:
These are Little Blue Pepper sprouts. I am having difficulty with these sprouting then dying off before they can grow beyond the cotyledon leaves. I pulled the sponge up higher out of the basket because I think they are having moisture issues. I'll see if this helps any. I had to do that with the strawberry babies and it seems to have helped them.

Great shots Cam! Is that Datura seed in the bottom actually splitting already? Which color is it? How are your floating plumeria seeds doing?
I guess I need to check on my stuff this morning. I haven't done that yet and it is usually the first thing I do.
Has anyone gotten their Miracle fruit to sprout yet? Even if you didn't put it in the AG? Sherry? Greg?
I'll probably add some pictures later today.

Oh, I wanted to mention you need some humidity domes on them. Greg was shorted one in the kit he bought and I made some suggestions for him if you need some ideas. Sherry had mentioned she would send you some baskets and sponges too.

Can you please give me a model number and site where I might research you "Aero Garden" so I get some idea if this is for us? Thanks

Sure Noah! Home Of The AeroGarden From AeroGrow International (http://www.aerogrow.com) It's fun but not for everyone.
You might check the Craigslist in your area. You can find some really reasonably priced ones on there like $40 instead of $150, or on eBay.
They are getting into a good season for them because you can grow tomatoes and stuff inside in the winter.
I think you asked me in the pup thread what size pots I was using. The largest would be 5 gallon. I seem to find they enjoy being more root bound. I doubt many on here would agree with me though. But I get a lot of pups that way. :)

Greg I'm having the same problem lol. I had to remove my datura seeds today because several were molding. I have been doing a good job of keeping the aero garden cleaned out. I got some Candy Cane zinnia seeds that I'm trying now. I hope they sprout. My previous plants would have stunted growth and then slowly die.

Have you guys cleaned out the basin? And then after cleaning it, thoroughly washed and rinsed to make sure no soap or bleach residue was left? I had my aero garden sitting in the basement for over a year when i came across this thread and you all inspired me to get it back out. Since it was so dirty, i decided to wash it out with some soap and then a 10% bleach solution. After thoroughly rinsing it, i filled it with clean water and ran it for half a day to make sure the lines were cleared out and then drained, rinsed and refilled it again. Since then i've had lots of sprouts. My lettuce sprouts popped up after about 36 hours! I also have some passion fruit seeds (from Tony!) and some guava seeds i'm watching closely.

I cleaned mine out with bleach and soap before I planted my datura seeds but some of the seeds still developed mold on them. Now that I'm starting the zinnia seeds I added a little peroxide to the water. Maybe that will help keep the mold away?

I found my aero-gardens performed best in the colder months.
In summer, with the air-tight lids and hot lights, the heat can just be a little bit too intense...hense the reason for poor germination rate and stunted growth in my case.
I have had minimal mold but when I did experience it, I scraped it off and lowered the water level slightly so things weren't so soppy wet.
Having a small fan blowing off to the side can help deter mold and boost air circulation as well.
It's all just trial & error and you'll learn to master your aero-gardens best through your mistakes and failures. ;)
Good luck, everyone. :waving:

I have bad luck with chive seeds sometimes even in pots Greg, so don't take it personally.
Wonder what's going on with your A-G that it's not doing very much for you. Keep your system in the coolest area of your home. When I have bad luck germinating the seeds in mine, usually in the summer months when it's too warm, I like to sprout things in pots and then transplant the seedlings into my A-G system to grow on from there. Some seeds sprout no matter what, but others are more fussy.
Don't give up just yet though because Janan and I have proven that success can be had.
Hope your system is out of direct sunlight. Sometimes too, not filling to the water level and filling slightly below can increase germination, making the sponges moist but not soggy. I would begin again with some super easy seeds..like marigolds or tomatoes, and keep a steady watch on them to make sure there is no mold growth.
I know you can have success Greg, so please don't give up just yet. Have you tried peppers yet?

WOW Cam that is GREAT!!! :woohoonaner: Isn't that exciting when you see them so fast?
Greg, Sherry's advice is spot on. Don't give up, we can help you through it. Sherry and I both have had failures in our AG's. We just don't talk about them as much as we do our successes. :ha: We both have multiple AG units also so our percentages of success are higher that way too. I tried 6 times before I finally got a Little Blue pepper plant to get started. And probably at least that many times before I finally got a strawberry seed to sprout. I am hard headed, so I naturally want to WIN! I just keep trying. :)
One thing you night want to try is a seed kit directly from AeroGrow. They guarantee them to sprout and grow or your money back or replacement. They are more expensive but might be worth it for you.
I have more problems with algae than mold. I keep a tiny spray bottle that is half water and half hydrogen peroxide and spritz the seeds if they have an inkling of white fuzzy mold. It zaps it immediately. But the algae will grow on the sponge and sometimes cover the seed before it has a chance to sprout. Some seeds just take longer than others. Sherry told me that's where the little paper covers come in - they keep the light off the sponges so the algae doesn't have a chance to grow.
You might try some marigold seeds. They have sprouted really fast for me. Sherry's suggestion of peppers and tomatoes are good too. They may not be exactly what you want to grow right off the bat, but it will be good practice.
If you don't want to talk about it here, you can PM either one of us and we will be happy to help you.
Luke what are you growing in yours? Take some pictures for us and post them here! :)

BUT then you can drool over my double blossom petunias, right? I should be able to get seeds on those - my regular ones make seed inside. I had some columbine seeds that developed mold and eventually rotted. I put peroxide in mine every so often like Janan said. It definitely helps alot. Passion fruit seems to take a long time to sprout. Mine took 2 months to finally pop up but it wasn't in my aero garden. Janan I would love seeds from mesquite, mimosa and catalpa trees. My mom loves mimosas, she said she had a few trees at her house in Elkhart when she was a child. I love trumpet vine but I don't have any trellises to grow it. I'm having major issues with my wisteria, its growing through the windows and it actually came into the house, its also tearing the siding from my house. I love wisteria but it can be a menace. I made the mistake of planting it too close to the house

Okey Dokey Cam!
I have my Dutchman's Pipe Blooming! It has two "pipes" on it right now. It was a shock as it had wound around behind a chair and both of them were hidden from me. So, I have no idea what they looked like before this stage. And yes it is still in the AeroGarden!!! Is this cool or what??? :ha:

Can't wait to get mine going (have been saying for a while :ha:)
Wish I had room for more of these things :) They are cool just seeing others adventures with them :)
It would be even cooler if they where aeroponics like the name suggests.... But they are hydroponics :ha: Why not hydrogarden?

I don't know. I guess because of the air bubbles in the water???? You know what I would love to do is the one with the fish. The fish are in the water underneath the plants. That is just so impressive to me.
How come you haven't started yours yet? Did the sponges you got from your Hydro shop not work? I know you are waiting on some stuff from Sherry too. I tried all sorts of stuff when I first started. I bought some cheapo sponge rollers and tried those sponges (didn't work - sponges were plastic material and only stayed wet on one side). And used the clips from brush rollers as baskets (those worked). I used the clear ketchup containers for humidity domes (worked). I had quite the conglomeration! But you can't say I didn't try! :ha:

10-13-2011, 09:17 PM
I figured it would just be better to wait and get the stuff from Sherry then to mess around and get plants started in other material. Then have the stuff right for it and not be able to move the plants.
I didn't think about having one with fish. I guess the waste from the fish could serve as some sort of crude fertilizer for the plants.
When you have a body of water, and then have air bubbles (most likely from an air stone) in hydroponics it is called a deep water culture. Which is what the aerogardens are. I think that the "aero" part was just a marketing tactic, because growing plant's in air sounds more interesting then water :ha: And most people (who don't grow plants as extensively as we do) water sounds harder to care for and keep clean then air does.

Wow Janan that is so cool! I was wanting to grow some morning glories in my aero garden but I was afraid they would take over the whole thing.
Jananas Bananas
10-14-2011, 09:46 AM
Cam I don't know if it would work with Morning Glories, but most plants you can just cut back to keep them under control. I really like a wild jungle look, so I rarely cut anything unless Sherry makes me. This vine is a fairly slow grower and hasn't gotten wild yet. But the Mexican Bird of Paradise that is in the same unit has really gone crazy. I will try to get a fresh picture of it today. I'm not afraid to "try" anything in them. The crazier the idea the better I like it! :ha: In fact, I think morning glories with their heart shaoed leaves would look really pretty in there! ~J

I'm amazed that the Dutchman's pipe vine is slow growing. Its definitely an interesting plant. I may try growing a morning glory seed in one of the empty pods and let it grow like a ground cover. I wonder if that would work?
Jananas Bananas
10-14-2011, 01:31 PM
Well it may not be a slow grower outside. Seems like to me that most things (I said MOST not ALL) that I start from seed in the AGs start off slow. Then after a couple of months they seem to take off and go crazy! I got some new shots of the Dutchman's Pipe this morning. One of them has opened up. Are these meat eaters? The blossom has an odd smell and it has those finger looking things on the edge of the blossom!

Thanks Janan! I look forward to seeing the blooms too. I don't know what I'm going to do with 18 inch plants though. I should have looked at the height before I got them lol. Those tomatoes look so good. My Micro Tom tomato is struggling because I had another white fly infestation. My dog ate the other tomato plant, he pulled it from the the table and ate everything except the stem and the roots
Jananas Bananas
10-15-2011, 08:34 PM
Cam I think the AGs have a tendency to stunt the height on plants. They don't have to stretch so much to reach good light. That French Vanilla Marigold that I got from Sherry only reached about a foot tall and bloomed great for me and I never took it out of the AG. I have another one going now. I think they are 2 foot tall marigolds if I remember correctly.
http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n580/JaNan16/20111009066.jpg
Anyway, maybe you can keep some in and take some out just to experiment how they will do. Betcha 5 bucks that any you leave in will not grow as tall and will bloom for you! :)

Ask Sherry about that, Cam. Are they outside? Sherry didn't you tell me I couldn't get seed from the French Vanilla because it was inside and needed to be pollinated or something right? Or am I thinking about something else?

I think those vanilla marigolds are hybrids, and that's why I've had trouble with the seeds. Besides that, marigolds require pollination in order for the seeds to be viable.
I always just buy fresh seeds each year. ;)

HBL - I just wanted to post up that you were right about my goji's! Repotted them in bigger containers and fertilized and they are thriving, they are 2x or 3x the size already. I have now realized this same mistake with many of my starts and as soon as i realize they are no longer growing, i pull them up and sure enough they are just starting to become rootbound, i.e. the first mass of roots has made a circle or two at the bottom. So far so good, each time i have repotted something that has stopped growing, it immediately starts up again! Hooray for success

The Hollyberry Lady

Great news, Luke! :D
That's why I prefer to grow my own plants from seed instead of buying rootbound nursery plants. Once those roots start circling round and round, over and over again, they usually will continue to grow that way. The plants are inferior and weak, compared to plants that got transplanted to bigger pots at the ideal time. Then the roots continue to grow out, down deeper and deeper...and the plants grow much faster and more dense.
Love to see a shot of your Goji plants sometime. ;)

Cam you squeeze out a couple more inches by using the top of the arm as the last notch. And they (AeroGrow) just sent in a new email, showing someone using a chop stick sticking it all the way through the holes. They have really grown fast for you haven't they?
Sherry, I didn't have any luck with getting the Hahm's Gelbe seeds to sprout. Would you mind setting aside a couple more seeds of those for me when they ripen? Strawberries look too yummy!

If your Goji plants get too tall and spindly at some point Luke, you can pinch the tops to encourage more branching.
Cam, if your zinnias are too tall, you can bend the flower branch downward, being careful not to snap the branch altogether. I've used string with a weight attached, to bend the branches. They will then start to grow in an "S" shape and the flowers will turn back up to the light, only they'll be much lower. Do you understand what I mean? For a weight I've used rocks and even pennies.
Yes Janan, I really am enjoying eating berries from this plant. Many are growing so it looks like I'll be eating them for awhile. Here's one I enjoyed yesterday...

Ok so I sowed another one of those Miracle Fruit seeds, Janan, even though they claim they're no longer viable. Let's see what happens...
I also sowed a white marigold seed too but I hope the plant doesn't get mites. I don't grow them inside anymore because the mites are too tough to keep off. I shower the plants of course but the blooms are so big and heavy they flop over from the water. I'll try again though and see how it goes.
I also sowed a banana passiflora seed (taxo). It's such an attractive plant and I thought it would be cool to start one in the A-G. I still have a couple more empty pods left and might sow a geranium seed and maybe another Alpine from my own collected seeds.

Ok so I've transferred a small geranium plant I had growing in a pot, into another empty A-G pod late last night. I'll show a shot soon.
Have one more pod to fill and I was thinking of another pepper variety. Maybe a 2nd Aurora plant or something. Might sow a pepper seed now, then every pod is occupied once again.
I just hope I get some stuff to germinate in my three-pod system soon. I'm gonna go check now...

Oh and Janan, are you still gonna grow a Colorado Blue Spruce tree in your A-G? :goteam:
I have a bunch of seeds in soil that I put in the freezer for a one month cold-strat and I've got a pod available, should I get one to germinate. Wouldn't it be so cool?
Oh and remember those 'rainbow pumpkin' :ha: pepper seeds you shared with me that time? I have a plant in my A-G with a fruit on it...

Sherry, that close up strawberry shot is one of your very best , in my opinion. I just love it!
Yes, that would be very cool. I have tried two more times to get a blue spruce to sprout and the pods have algaed over before anything sprouted.
Oh, I so hope that pepper ripens with the rainbow colors for you. It was the colors similar to your Aurora's with all the colors at once. So pretty! And tasty too! :ha:
I bought a couple of new plants today. I will show you in the cacti thread! :)

Too small to see just yet but I've got one of the double petunia and white marigold seeds germinating! Plus the hybrid impatiens seed is starting to split also. I hope the miracle fruit seed comes up. That would be super. Has anyone tried sowing them in soil?
I think my pink geranium plant is going to make the transition into the A-G. A few leaves were slightly wilty but it's perking up now and the blooms are continuing to open!
Hope the banana passion flower seed comes up too.

Pansy seeds like to sprout in coolness so I wouldn't sow them in the A-G, Cam. Sow them in soil first then transplant them later...you'll have better success.
Sorry to hear about the zinnias being too tall. Guess you should hve listened to your good friend HbL way back when she told you they'd be too tall, eh Cam? :ha:
I definitely have a white marigold and a petunia coming up! Are you growing some of those double petunias, Janan? I seem to recall you are. They're gonna be just gorgeous!

Yes Sherry! These are my double petunias - they have about 5 bud starts. I can't wait to see what color they are! I only used one little seed! I am always so tight with my seeds - I never ever sow all of them.

I thought I already posted these, but they aren't on the first page here so sorry if this is a repost!
Is it the French vanilla that you have sprouting? Gosh I love that plant!
Do you have a grow tail on your JigSaw yet?
The Hollyberry Lady
11-05-2011, 06:15 PM
Oh I can't wait to see what color your petunia will be! How exciting! Plus it'll be a double bloom, unlike those boring ones from the nursery. I bet they'll smell delicious also. Please post a shot the very day one of the buds opens. :ha:
I gotta go check and see if there's a grow tail on my jigsaw yet. Maybe I'll try to get a few shots of some stuff coming up...
Yes, the white marigold is what I have popping. They usually sprout in soil in a day or two so I'm not surprised to see one up so fast. I love that flower too Janan. They're special to me and I just knew you'd enjoy them. There's no other marigold like them. They would make someone who hates marigolds, love them!
Have you had any mites on your marigolds at all? They usually love them and try hard to infest the plant if they can...indoors. :(
It's good to not sow all your seeds at once and only a few at a time. This way if germination fails, you still have more chances to try other methods and have success. Plus too, one seed equals to one huge plant when it's mature so if you sow 10 seeds, you better have room for 10 plants!
Ok, gonna go check out my A-G's. I was out today...

I looked in my AG and the pansy seeds are already swelling and I can see a little tip of root coming out of the seed. Part of my AG gets some coolness from a vent nearby. Sherry I didn't know that a white pepper turns reddish first. That is kind of backwards from the Hot Marble. I think purple, then white with them.
I had mites wipe out and entire AG while I was traveling a few months ago, because I wasn't home to mist and bathe them. It was my original French Vanilla, and my Fish Pepper and maybe a Petunia, I can't remember what else I had in that unit.
I can see white underneath the green of the double petunia. That's probably not the color though.

Not sure how to turn off my three-pod system every night at the same time. It seems to be different than the others and I lost the manual.
I cannot believe how quickly the Aurora seeds came up for me. They popped in two days. That's the fastest I ever had a pepper seed germinate. I sowed them directly from the fruits without drying them first. WOW is all I can say!
So I can't wait to remove the colorado blue spruce seeds from the freezer in a couple weeks and see how many sprouts I get. I'm determined to grow a little spruce tree in my A-G. If I get more than one sprout I could grow some in pots for fun and give them away.
Do you water and feed on a scheduled day each week or 2 weeks, you guys?
I think my Impatiens seed is gonna split soon. Nothing yet on the banana passion flower seed.

Cam if you like peppers you are going to LOVE those Fish pepper! I nibbled them from the tip up. They get hotter the closer you get to the stem. I thought the flavor was very unique and smoky. I liked it a lot. There isn't a lot of seeds in them though. Congrats on your sprouts coming up too, Cam!
Sherry you're a turdling!!! Not trying to make me jealous! :ha: Gorgeous pictures as usual, by the way. Do you have a good printer? If you do get some photo ink for it and photo paper, print some of those beautiful pictures of yours. Put them in some just plain black crisp frames (all the same size) and you could make a fantastic wall of photographic artwork and also give them as gifts! Just a thought. I think I am going to take a few of mine and do that with. They actually have a canvas paper that you can use also that make your photos look like paintings. You could make a wall of sunsets in your bedroom, and a wall of fruit and flowers in your living room where you have your garden theme already. I think that would be just gorgeous!
I got to get back to cleaning! :03:

Found a new in the box Aero Garden, the 7 hole model. All there and works but the pots, foams, nutrients and lids were not there. For $40 it was almost stealing. My hunt is on for the above listed items. Will look on ebay and any other place that I might find them. Any suggestions. Thanks

I got my three pod system above for 50 cents!
This is the same seller on ebay I got my three pod baskets and stuff:
the essentials for aerogarden 7 pods baskets nutrients | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/essentials-aerogarden-7-pods-baskets-nutrients-/170716746325?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27bf82d255)
It arrived quickly and everything was ok. I got the three pod one and it came with the lid/bubble sprouting thingies. So I am guessing that one does also.

It is a complete unit. It also come with a two shelf wall farm unit. Now I have to find another to fill the extra shelf. This is almost as addictive as bananas. When I find the needy pieces I will be very happy. Looked on ebay but pricing is high for me.

Great you got a system Noah! :) Hope you'll join us with on-going shots of your aero-garden plants as they develop and grow.
Your set-up looks terrific, Jordan! Maybe you'll sow some of my Alpine strawberry seeds in your unit. They are a total success. :D
So I couldn't help myself and I've been harvesting these chocolate sweet peppers from one of my systems...

Mine wasn't either Jordan, so I put them in the down draft of a ceiling fan. Maybe you could put them on a window sill with the window open just a tad bit. Sherry would be the better person to ask though - I just took her advice on mine!
Here's some updates on a few of my things.
This is my Spoon tomatoes blooming. I am anxious to see how tiny these tomatoes really are. I think I have shared seed with some of you. I can tell you though I have mine in an AeroGarden, the plant is much too huge for an AG. It's large and drapey but a climber at the same time.

I see buds on your chamomile, Janan! That thing looks terrific and obviously loves the aero-garden! All your stuff looks just fabulous! So cute how the little blue is trying to set fruits already.
Ok so the reason why my bathroom is cool is because I have a window in there that I leave open a crack. That's why my strawberry seeds came up so nicely for me in there.
You could try putting the little pot you sow them in at the bottom of the fridge for a couple weeks and see what happens, Jordan. I've never needed to put them in the fridge though. How about keeping them on a drafty window sill? Good viable strawberry seeds usually pop within 21 days or so.

Noah we mist and shower the plants. You have to do that to keep spider mites at bay! Plus, I like the look of the baby plants with the water droplets on them so that is usually when I take pictures of them. :)
And yes it is addicting. At least it has been for me! I have eleven units right now, but one is still in the box, I am going to give it as a Christmas gift. :ha:

So I've been sprouting swiss chard seeds in the a-g but they're all coming up yellow. I don't want to grow boring old yellow, so I keep re-sowing more until a red or pink one pops up. Chard seeds germinate fast luckily so I only have to wait a couple days for each seed.

No it is for my son. He has been fascinated by mine and spends quite a bit of time looking at the plants in each unit every time he comes over. He even said he was going to try and make himself one. I have had many come up on Craigslist over the last few months and I have resisted - until I saw this one new still in the box. I just couldn't pass it up!!!! It is a silver one. :ha:
I only had pink chard some up. I was hoping for the salmon color too and a yellow and white. The pink was very beautiful though. They are actually selling the chard kits now at AeroGrow. And coleus. Those are sure beautiful for some extra color in there.

I am gonna order more sponges and some extra baskets too though. Those will be handy.
Hoping your stuff gets there soon Jordan. Our mail service is like snail service so sorry about the wait. They send mail back too sometimes and you have to re-send it. I hate it when it happens because it's 10 days before you get it back and another 10 days to resend it. Ridiculous!
My double petunia seedling is growing by the day. I am shocked at how big it's getting. I can't wait to see the blooms! I hope they're colorful and fragrant. That would be a bonus. Double blooms are unique though and I'm really anticipating the show.

I found this today while moving Goji number 1 out of the AeroGarden. These little guys were completely submerged under water AND in the dark. Is it common for Goji to spread via rhizomes? I guess I need to Google this because I did not know this. I cut them off and put them in some sterile seed starting peat and covered them with a clear water bottle top. I'll see what happens. If they spread this easily none of us should have any trouble growing them!!!! :)

It is a precious little thing. I just worry about it trying to fruit since it is so tiny! I just started another seed this morning just to see how it will grow (hopefully) for me.

I probably won't ever see any blooms but the foliage is so delicate and lacy so I can grow it for foliage.

The essentials came in the mail and now I am ready to get started. Problem is I can't decide what to start with. We have plenty of tomatoes outside along with several sweet and hot peppers, and they are doing great. Was thinking about bananas but some of them take so long to germinate. I am going to order some papaya seed so they will be a candidate for some spots when they get there. Guess I will just reach into my sack of unknowns and start whatever with them. Will work on a sub for the holders since this unit will get a lot of use, when I get the hang of it. You guys have created an addict. Hope I can survive the task.

Glad to hear you'll get lots of use, Noah. You'll love herbs in your unit.
Some people on the aero-garden site complained their lavender didn't bloom for them, so be sure to fertilize your plant steadily and I bet yours will.
Herbs will be a nice way to start and get the hang of being and aero-gardener. You will be happy with your results I'm sure.
I believe Janan mentioned using cut up pieces of sponge from the dollar store to replace the actual aero-garden sponges. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Might be time for an experiment. ;)
Just don't blame me though if it fails! :ha: I've never actually done it.

Noah I think you will really enjoy this! If you buy your sponges from AeroGrow they cost about 16 cents each. I think it is a pack of 125 for $19.95. I haven't found anything that works as well because their sponges are actually peat.

Hi,
I have a quick question about the fertilizer.
I got some packets of AG fertilizer in with my sponges and stuff and it is getting them funky colored film like stuff on the top of it. But if I shake it up it goes back to the milky color.
Do you guys think it is ok? Or should I just try using a diluted mix of my liquid fertilizer?

You don't HAVE to prune Janan, but if you want a much more dense and full plant, it can benefit greatly. ;)
My "Blue Spruce" seeds never did come up in soil...even with a freezer treatment! Gonna keep trying though.
Everything looks great, Janan. Is that "personal" watermelon a smaller variety?

Yes, Sherry! They are those little round ones they sell at Whole Foods and stuff. They have minimal seeds in them also. I'm sorry I know you asked me that question somewhere, and I forgot to answer (though I answered you in my head :ha:). They are larger fruit than a cantaloupe, maybe about the size of a Honeydew.
Do you think that blue spuce is sprouting with that brown thing coming out of it? I don't remember the other one looking like that.

Maybe. I guess time will tell if it is germinating.
Ok so do you know how big the watermelons will be? You may have to hand-pollinate with a soft paintbrush.

I'm doing an experiment. I'm going to see if I can grow gloxinias in my aerogarden. Janan- do you still have that(those) papaya start(s) growing in your AG? I potted mine up, and put them near a window but i think the cold got them, and then died off. was a fun experiment while they lasted, atleast i know i can easily sprout some more.
HBL - do you have some recommended stops on taking an AG plant and potting it up in soil? I have just one lemon basil left in my AG but it's huge and i'd like to pot it up, so i can have all starts at the same age in there.
Thanks!

Ok Luke, when you want a plant to successfully make the shift from aero-garden to pot, you gotta keep it covered or partially covered, until the roots grab and are able to uptake their own moisture. If you can't cover it be sure to mist or wet the leaves a few times a day. If you've got a bottle of Wilt-Pruf though...forget everything you just read! :ha:
If it's an herb, I would suggest snipping it before you make the transplant and cutting a third of the growth. This will make the shift much easier. I use a mist bottle when I'm rooting cuttings or transplanting plants, so you may find this useful also.
It usually takes a couple weeks so be patient...and good luck! ;)
