Hi Markku,
I have a musa siamensis growing in my garden, but instead of yellow colour, the flag leaf had orange-pink midrib and the part of flower, which is still inside the leaf canal.

I were pluzzled and thought "the orange-pink colour do not exist in musa ornata and musa siamensis, yet my plant did have orange-pink colour on midrib of flag leaf."

My plant had white powdery wax on leaf stalks & stem.
The petiole and wings were clasping the pseudostem, unlike in musa ornata, the wings were undaulating (not clasping on pseudostem)

The plant is 4 feet tall and had a sucker just 3 inches away.

I imported it as seeds with label "musa siamensis"

How can I tell musa siamensis and musa laterita from musa ornata when not in flower ???

Help needed.

Hi Clinton,
Probably it is a hybrid. M.siamensis is hybridising easily with M.laterita, M.rosea and M.rubra.
