Hi to all.
I am from south Florida. I grew up in south India there we have so many banana plants. I also lived in Canada for some time. At that time I really missed my tropical plants and bananas. Then I moved to South Florida and finally bought a house with some backyard. Last year I planted 10 banana plants. Most of them are south East Indian edible banana plants. They are called Poovan, Njalipoovan, Chundillakannan, and Palayamkodan. I purchased three tissue cultured plants from ebay and planted them in pots. They are Ice crème blue java, thousand fingers and Musa Double Mahoi. But the cold weather hit them really hard. I hope they will come back by summer. I just came back from my India trip. I have some photos from India and I will post them soon.

I found bananas.org while searching for variegated ae ae. I am still looking to get one of them.

Thanks

RAIN FOREZT

Welcome RAINFOREZT to Bananas dot org from your neighbor in South Florida!

This winter has been tough on the Bananas, Mangos, and Coconuts, but not as bad as last year. Hope to hear more from you in the future. Welcome to Florida!

Maybe you can enlighten us with some good Indian recipes. I love green soft seed mangos with a Salt, Hing, hot pepper spice-mix!

Good weather and good growing!!! :jalapenonaner:

Welcome to Florida and welcome from Florida. I can't call you a neighbor since it is about the same distance to Canada as it is to you from where I am in Pensacola, Florida.

I'm looking forward to your pictures. Maybe the next few winters will be more normal and you'll have better luck.

Welcome, I'm an Ae Ae fan as well. I had one several years back and it got to 8ft and then I lost it with one night while out of town it didn't get brought in (I was scared to plant it in the ground as I'm in North FL) I'm hoping to acquire another Ae Ae this summer! Good luck with your nanners

Hello from central Florida. We lived in Key West a while back and thought that freezing was at 70 degrees. Had bananas all year long and loved them. Just started with bananas again and hope to increase my knowledge from this site. Good luck.
