The ice cream pup which was planted more than a month ago, after I cut off some mushy parts, seems to be facing troubles with pushing out its first leaf. It started to grow almost immediately but kind of slow and with some bottom heat. Lately the top is beggining to dry out and the growth has halted. The top is now completely dry and seems to be heading further down. I have sprayed the "leaf" from time to time and I have kept the watering down to prevent rot.
Now what is going on? It's obvously alive but maybe not for much longer!
Here's some pics taken today:

Looks good to me...You might want to make a mark on the leaf so you can physically see how much it is growing also might help to get it some more light and check the soil see if its dry if it is add a little water...Id say the reason the top is drying out is because that's where you cut it. Once that leaf comes out it should take off again.

Just leave it and do what U did before and stop spraying it.

Your plant seems about good to me as well. Only the blackened pseudostem area worries me a little. I would stop the spraying as Ante suggested as well and let the soil get drier. Keeping it in a humid place is good but direct spraying of damaged, blackened tissue is asking for trouble. Once that area dries up fully, you may start spaying again if you have mites, otherwise it doesnt help anywhere. Dont let the whole rootball dry out, only what is above the root producing area and maybe just a little bit more. The corm and pseudostem have enough water to keep the plant growing well till you water again and that way rot is less likely to start. Bottom heat helps a good deal to prevent rot as well. A rotting plant slows down while an establishing plant kept drier grows at a good and about constant pace!
As Nate said, the slow and problem period is while the first leaf is emerging, the subsequent leafs come out much faster and problem free!
