Hello all I'm a brand new member here and have never really entered any of these types of forums before....I hope that I can be a contributor to the community and not just a bumb ;). I have recently started gardening in my living room and am interested in sharing seeds and stories. I would love to get a banana pup from somewhere and give bananas a try. So far all I have are peppers, tomatoes, and some regular house plants. My aloe is starting to mother some pups of her own if that would be a worthy trade.
Anyway, Hello all,
Donnie

P.S. A special hello to the hollyberry lady whom I've been stalking ever since I was questioning how long a jalapeno plant could live and saw some pics of her pepper plants. Is there really a pepper called dragons tear? That was the place I saw her plants.

I knew I recognized that name!

Refresh my memory about this Dragon's Tear variety...did I tell you that such a plant existed? Do you mean 'dragon's tongue? I have this type, if this is the one you're referring to?

Anyway, glad to see you joined here as well and hope you enjoy the site. ;)

Now you can stalk me here too! :ha:

It was a different forum that you belonged to a few years ago. I think the name was lorax saying that he had a dragon's tear plant that was 8 years old. You posted a pic of your "Aurora" saying it was the same thing. Beautiful pepper plants by the way.

So anyway I finally broke down and bought some seeds of the less common varieties...all I was growing were seeds that I could bring home from cooking at work or from stuff I bought at the grocery store. I have a few different types of bell pepper (green, red, and orange), some small sweet peppers (don't know the name), jalapeno, and some scotch bonnet or habenero (not sure which, my son got them from my wifes work), and tomatoes (big meaty ones, plum, and I haven't started my cherry toms yet). I'm so new to this that the only fruits I've gotten are from the first green bell seeds that I brought home (about 4-6 months ago) they take forever to turn but they do eventually turn red.
Some of the new babies are explosive ember, medusa, ring of fire, bolivian rainbow, chile de arbol, and golden cayenne. I have ordered the ghost pepper seeds from the chile institute but they haven't arrived yet. Wifey planted some assorted lettuce types, and I planted some tangerine seeds that have started to grow.

I knew you were going to say "Aurora"!!! :goteam:

Yes yes, I remember now...that's right it was Lorax who told us that it's called 'dragon's tear' in Ecuador!

So you have some seeds...good for you! Sounds like you've got some terrific varieties to enjoy. Maybe you should join this thread too...

Welcome Notrecruiting,

Glad you decided to jump in. I might have missed it but where are you living? Sounds like you have a green thumb with all your seed growing. Make sure and post some pictures.

I'm condo living in Miami Beach...space is kinda tight so not sure if the banana plant will work for me. I would love to give it a shot though. I really like the whole "grow your food" idea. Most of my plants so far are edible. I have a few inedible house plants that have been around for years. Like my x-mas tree, some aloe and one of those tall long leaved house plants. Of course I also have had those hard to kill vine plants that everyone has hanging around. I'll try to post some pics but my camera really sucks.

Saw your question about good indoor container species, popped up in a few different post, sure you have had a response by now or delved into something. Just a suggestion from personal experience. I have a Dwarf Cavendish that has been an indoor plant for about 20 years and I am in a much cooler climate than you, so I'm sure you would fair much better. The plant has at times reached about 6 feet and at the most 3.5 to 4 wide in a pot that about 20" wide. I do put it out for about 3 month of the year.

Belated from central Florida. We are rather new to the forum, joined in June, and found out how much we didn't know. Good luck.
