I have a friend who runs a lab and has been treating seeds with some unusual chemicals and creating variegated plants. I am looking for sources for easy to germinate seeds for these experiments. If their are any sources known or if anyone has extras they would be willing to spare.

Any suggestions on good varieties would be interested in hearing. Thanks.

Do you have any pictures of the results? It sucks musa seeds take so long to sprout. Would it work on ensete's too?

Ebay has banana seeds for sale of a few different varieties, although I suppose you would be taking a chance at viability due to age. As far as 'will it work on Ensete?', yes it will work with any seed of any plant. You can also achieve variegation in plants via seed treated with X-rays.

I dont have photos of the current var seedlings. It seem the process works with most plants. The problem is the chemicals being used and the process is very scientific and unsafe for the untrained professional. I have working with some tetraploiding and other chemical treatments. What my friend is working on is far from what anyone else seems to be working with. Though the results are amazing.
