Here is a photo of a fruiting saba plantain plant in my yard. I thought this might be of interest to some on this forum.

Very nice looking bananas! They will make a lot of yummy "turones" (thinly sliced Sabá wrapped in lumpia wrappers, then deep fried like spring rolls).

You will find that they are almost identical to Praying Hands in flavor and texture.
Now the hard part. My first bunch took 11 months to ripen, but the second bunch in now ripening short of 5 months. The first bunch was the longest ripening time I have had on any banana, and the second bunch is almost the fastest.

. . . . . . . . .
In the Philippines, they are considered basically the same plant. Not very popular because of the difficulty of peeling the fruit when green. But the fruit of the Praying Hands is used in the same recipes and/or cooked as the Sabá, interchangeably. This is true with Cadaba, as well.
