We have heavy cloud cover now and forecasts show the probability of precipitation at 70% for the the few hours before and after the eclipse. :(

For those with clouds impairing your vision like here, here's a link to a NASA webcam:
Spacevidcast, Ustream.TV: Making Space Commonplace . (http://www.ustream.tv/spacevidcast)

I'm catching glimpses of it. Seems more mysterious with the clouds. :)

If you don't catch it now, you've got to wait another 372 years before it occurs during the winter solstice again! :D

Fun fact, this is the real reason, why we celebrate Christmas this time of year. After a total lunar eclipse, pagan religions were celebrating a "new start". It's always a great show. Thanks for the pics and info Harvey! :nanadrink:

I saw part of the eclipse. It was a little too early in the morning to be awake enough to enjoy it though!

I stayed up for it and it was AMAZING! I also got some pictures of it and they turned out fairly well. To bed early tonight!

Jack, that proposition is a rather late one, historically. See a more in-depth review at How December 25 Became Christmas - Biblical Archaeology Review (http://www.bib-arch.org/e-features/christmas.asp)
