Overwintering this guy by my west window. I don't have any south windows, so west is next best. It's been inside since early October and has put out about 5 leaves or so. All the red leaves that were grown outside crisped up and fell off about 2 weeks ago. Been misting it like crazy to keep off spider mites and haven't seen any yet. I also have a humidifier going in the room and keep the humidity 55 to 60 percent. I started out with 4 of these early summer and this is the only one that made it....the others died in summer!!!! I don't want to lose this one.

Here are some pictures. Do you think it needs a bigger pot yet?

Yes it needs a bigger pot, but I would wait until spring. The SR is very hard to overwinter as it is. I would not add the stress to it.

I wouldn't transplant it now, either. Transplanting bananas into bigger pots in winter is usually bad news for them, they aren't putting out enough growth root-wise to fill the new pot, so the excess soil stays too wet and the banana can rot.

The problem with siam ruby is its needs moist soil at all times, you cant put it on the dry side, needs to be kept growing temps no less than 15c.
