I have a Mysore bunch that popped out in May. It has been 7months. I have harvested two other bunches from this tree and they take about 6. We have had a few nights of cold and they are starting to have a ton of spots all over them and starting to look crappy. One is splitting. None are yellow. I usually have one turn yellow and then cut the whole bunch down. Should I wait for a yellow or cut it down?

Thanks,
Jen

I agree. Once they look 'plumped' up, and they're not rigid and 'square' looking, they can be picked. After all, the ones we buy in the store are often picked the moment they begin to plump up, just so they will ship better. I rarely wait for Mysores to turn yellow on the stalk, because they tend to stay green forever. The only ones I will allow to turn yellow are the Cavendish and Orinoco, if I decide to use it for dessert. It seems everything else just stays green way too long in my region.
