I know that peel thickness of bananas is not an especially informative characteristic in the sense that many cultivars and subgroups have thin peels, and many others have thick peels. But my questions are these:

1. Is peel thickness consistent within a cultivar. Or does it depend on growing conditions?

2. Is peel thickness consistent within a subgroup, or does if vary among cultivars within a subgroup?

It can be variable within a plant even, and varies by maturity of the bunch, it's a good measurement if you are considering total evaluation, but should not be used for identification.

There are also some issues with measuring it, you need a caliper, and how you are measuring can likely be very different from any reported data.
