In an attempt to get my plants bigger in stead of trying to overwinter them as small plants, I keep them frost free in a greenhouse in winter for some years. As you can see from the comparison to the first picture things have grown quite a bit,...;)
Especially the Ensete's are doing really well, can't really lift my ventricosum anymore with the leafs on, let alone fit it in the greenhouse.
ensetes overwinter at 12 deg C, Musa's at 5 deg C (except tropical ones, they get 12 as well)

Thats a lot of work there! Nice plants there!

Well I only have M. basjoo and M. sikkimensis, those 2 can overwinter outside with good protection. Saves a lot of work.

The tender stuff I can plant under glass in the tropical butterflygarden here!

Well that remains to bee seen Alexander,
I figured that digging them up and storing them in the greenhouse is even a little less work then protecting them, also giving a lot less of a mess in spring (straw in the garden ect.). A bycomming advantage is that the pseudostems survive and I have bigger plants to start with in spring.
My intention is however to leave some of them outside protected once I've identified the species properly. Many need to flower first to be able to do this.
E.g. I have a sikkimensis that has a dark stem and white powder, unlike the others, maybe this is another species or variant.

Kind regards,
Remko.
