This is P. x decaisneana in mid December, they seamed to be very happy with new branches growing from almost every node. Ahhhh, well....<a href=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=51869&ppuser=14273><img src=http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=51869&size=1 border=0></a>

Had to take them out and spray them, but since they got enormous I cut them down to about 1.5m. :((((( Along went the only fruit on P. x decaisneana. Now, I wonder how yellow/orange does it have to be for the seeds to be ripe and able to germinate? Below is the pic of the fruit. To me it seams still green, so can it ripe when cut down from the plant?

Yes it will ripen off the plant. I would say your seed are ripe now.

Thank you Sunfish, as always! I will still wait for a few more days before removing the seeds just to make sure. One more question: is there some good link with info on how to prepare passiflora seeds for planting them, the type of soil and conditions necessary for successful germination. Thanks!!!!

This little plant is in back of my house. It resembles a P. suberosa, but is slightly larger, has more color, and the fruit is slightly egg-shaped. The P. suberosa in my garden has no color besides greenish white with a very narrow dark band at the base of the fibers that circle the center of the bloom. Also, my garden P. suberosa has fruit that is almost perfectly round. I think they are both P. suberosa, but have some doubts, too.

Would anyone be able to identify the specific variety? I purchased this about a week ago and the first flower has opened up. It was only labeled as a "Blue Passion Vine."

I am growing passionfruit in a greenhouse. I have never really contemplated the thought of growing them outside in winter in western North Carolina. Does anyone think it would grow even with the cold temps?

Thanks for the advice. I did not find any seeds/fruit because they are not blooming yet, but I took a few cuttings. This variety grows very well from cuttings; I have about 4 or 5 that have successfully rooted when placed in water.

I love these pictures. I planted Passionfruit vines in 2018. I purchased the vines from Peaceful Heritage Nursery: Passionfruit Vines For Sale - Peaceful Heritage Permaculture Nursery (http://www.rootofdavidnursery.com/passionfruit.html)

I planted them next to lattice attached to our deck and it climbed a lot - no flowers though. Maybe next year I'll see some flowers.
