Ha, SO did mine. Last time around it flowered in December, its bad timing is making me want to give up on IC altogether.

I Hope all turns out well, keep us updated with more pictures. Please

Congrats!

Thanks! I have been waiting for this plant to flower all summer. It is in an area across from my AeAe's and has grown very tall to reach for the sun. Now lets hope the mild summer leads into a mild winter.

Congrats Andrew. What varieties were the other 6 that fruited for you this year?

Three dwarf Cavs, one brazilian, one tall oronico and an unknown. I was hoping my AeAe was going to fruit but not yet. How are you and your plants?

Andrew, my plants and I are doing well, thanks for asking. My knee is nearly back to normal, 2 months out from arthroscopic surgery. All my bananas seem to be happy (aside from a calcium deficiency in two, which is making them grow with tangled and twisty leaves). The plants I've had longest have only been in the ground for 6 months, so I just have to wait for them grow, though I'm impatient for fruit. Several have 1-3 pups. I'm hoping my dwarf Orinoco will send out a bud soon because the p-stem is over 5' now, but I'll just have to wait and see.

Update on my Ice Cream Bud. It has been cold and wet here but the bud is moving right along.

Fifteen feet give or take a foot. The plant has been in the ground two years. I planted three at the same time. This is the only one to fruit so far.

Well after removing so many mature plants last year I only have three bunches hanging right now. This weather is really odd! We should be having Santa Ana winds and fires now, instead I think I've been transported to Oregon. :ha:

Awesome congrats on your IC!

I have two IC flowers opening this week and think I could maybe get another 2-3 buds before December. I'm too hoping for a mild winter! One thing though, ICs grow fast in temps far below others. I think they grow above 54F or so.

I'm hoping for a frost free winter:) So far year 2010 has been above 32 and frost free. Let's hope it it continues!

I hope it is a mild one! You did not have much heat above 100 this year. Congrats on your Ice Creams!

Anytime! I just cut down a Tall Orinoco stalk last weekend. They were getting too ripe so I peeled them and froze them for shakes. Nothing like organic bananas that I grew for my shakes! (Organic Papaya, Organic Guava, Pineapple, Organic Strawberries, Organic Coconut flakes, Organic Blueberries, Organic vanana Trader Joes yogart, Organic apple juice, Organic orange juice and my bananas). I have a sweet tooth! I grow many of the fruits and buy the rest. My guava trees are full of fruit that should ripen Dec/Jan. Last year I got 300 plus guavas!
