You are looking for Zutano rootstock. Two classic places to obtain them:
Maddock Ranch Nursery, and
Durling Nursery,
both in Fallbrook CA.

Richard,
How is the Sharwil avocado that you have? I have a hass(x2), fuerte, holiday and reed. I was thinking of adding a Sharwil as my last tree but I've heard from some people that they cannot tell the difference between that and Fuerte.

Google search for Maddock Ranch Nursery (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Maddock+Ranch+Nursery,+Fallbrook+CA)
Google search for Durling Nursery (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Durling+Nursery,+Fallbrook+CA)

Then apparently they have Fuerte, not Sharwil.
In my opinion, there is no reason to grow Fuerte. In south America it is grown as a pollinator and the fruit is thrown away. Guacamole was the brain child of the California Avocado Association to sell Fuerte avocados. At least you have to give them credit for changing the name of the fruit from Alligator Pear to Avocado.

Not true :03: Mexicola Grande also got my interest and I did a little research and found a shop in France (!). They sell them (for 20 €) and also ship within France (of course) and to the EU.
