View Full Version : Surprise, Surprise
After last winter, I was not expecting any of my bananas to bloom this yr, but I was sitting in my yard this morning and noticed this banana that just started this spring had a huge bloom with over 80 naners already.
Here is a picture of it this past spring:http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=30700&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=30700&ppuser=5736)
I will try to get a new picture soon.

Never give up.

Yes, that is a Raji Puri. The mother plant was about 2 ft last summer when I planted it in the ground. It had grown nicely and I tried to protect it from the cold last winter--but I was not able to save the stem. It sent up a pup in the spring and the growth has been amazing! Leaves are almost 2 ft wide and over 6 ft long and it now has 92 nanners on the bunch!
Now the big job will be getting it thru the winter. We have had 2 cold winters--it is time for us to have a mild one!

Yeah the Raja Puri I have is getting close in size to flowering, I hope it hold off till next year. I was able to take four pups this year from it though.
The winter was so bad here last year that I don't have any flowers. I sure hope we have a mild winter this year though.
