Here is my clump of Musa Basjoo in Lexington, Kentucky. This picture was taken at the end of August.

Despite some lows in the mid-upper 40's and 50's recently it continues to grow. I assume that is because we have still had some days at mid to upper 80's.

They were both pups off of the main plant I was growing in Jacksonville. I planted them in April and they now have their own pups that are already as tall as them. They haven't went through a winter here in Kentucky.

They sure look great, Jake!
I'm trying to establish a Basjoo in the ground that's over a year old, given to me by Kaczercat, and I buried it a foot deeper than it was in it's pot to increase it's chances of survival over it's first Winter. ;)
I am optimisic that with a bit of mulch, it will survive, but we shall see.
Here it was this Summer...

I also have a second one and I bought it at the nursery...

It'll be very interesting to see if they make it...
Yours sure are beautiful, Jake! Thanks for sharing.

I am so sorry I never replied to anyone. My computer broke around this time and I wasn't on very much. As far as age goes, this will be the third growing season that I have had them. We got down to 2f this past winter twice and they started to grow from the ground the end of March. The tallest one is already 4ft with the other at about 1-2ft.
The only protection was the banan leaves themeselves cause I got lazy and don't mulch, so they have had to start from the very bottom and grow up. It was warmer than average and above average rain, then it has flipped to above average rain to below normal temps since mid-April.
