Mike,

Still waiting for my DN to pop. It's keeps pushing big leaves like yours did. This year will be the first time fruiting, and it's a two mama pstem mat. Hope you get a big bunch.

LoL, thats my friend Chris he pretty much lives there. You can see he likes to take pics of my plants and use his PhotoTrader app on iphone.

Dan, his mat has two pstem that are both the same size. The other one is like 3 weeks younger. I am thinking they are both going to flower and just give me 2 small bunches vs 1 larger one. I really like how small it stayed, my DO is still a lot taller than that. I think the flower bud will hit the ground before the fruit is ripe.

---------------------

I will wait to see if the 2nd one flowers then maybe have a contest to guess the total of both. :)

Mike,

I ran 4 mats with 2 pstems last year (DN, RP, DB, HM) and I'm thinking the same thing. That there will be 2 smaller fruit bunches instead of one larger. This is the last time for 2 pstems on a mat for me. Take up too much room and my space is limited.

Also the 4 muscadines running 2 cordons along one 100 ft top wire need to get much more sun than they got this year. Don't expect a lot of grapes. Big shade plants the bananas are. But that was the reason I could grow basil, peppers, parsley and tomatoes between the mats thru this long hot summer.

So, Mike ---- your saying Chris pretty much lives there, in front of the DN mat?????

Yeah, he has his chair under them nanaers and keeps asking me to install a hammock for him. :ha:

I try to space out the pstems so that one will flower right after another. I try to keep them about 3 - 5 months apart. My Raja Puri's timing is a little off this season but it is going to start kicking some butt next season.

Mike,

Hope you tell Chris he has 4 months to wait for fruit. And get him a porta potty - it could get messy back there. lol

I started it from a small chunk of corm that was cut by accident. I mean small it fit right into my hand and now its a big plant in just over 1 year.

Amazing! Congrats and I hope your bunches of bananas grow big and plump.

Yes, you can cut the bud off now; just be sure to leave several inches (6-7") of the rachis in case it dessicates.
