My first concern would be why the seller doesn't mention the size of the plants they are shipping, or why there are no pictures of the actual or similar pups to be shipped...
That said the buyer feed back is fantastic, everyone appears to be thrilled with their purchases, so I'm sure its a pretty safe bet.

Nucci, did you ever get your second order for 2 corms from grannypossmsplace, or even a note stating where things are?
Anyone else who ordered from grannypossmsplace around the 8th of December, did you get your order filled yet?
Just wondering, because I ordered from them and the last I heard from them in mid-December was that they had just been hit by a storm and their grounds were wet. So they told me that they would not dig up corms when the ground was wet because of concern for mold developing on the corms.

Speaking as a long-time eBay buyer, of course! It's not getting much in the way of nibbles 'cuz the seller expects someone to pay by money order only & then wait a minimum of 4 months for shipping? That's way out of the time frame that eBay would step in to help anyone that had a problem w/a non-performing seller. I'd have to know or have done mucho business w/any seller to trust a transaction like that one (& I STILL wouldn't bid - even if I knew 'em!). Their feedback isn't bad, but there's absolutely NO protection for the person that wins this one. If (s)he wants to wait that long to ship, they should have waited later in the year to list it. I would pay in advance to a nursery (IF I had the cash, LOL!) to have a plant held in reserve, but not eBay. There's a reputable seller right that has acouple of the Ae'Ae listed right now that if I had the cash I WOULD buy from (they aren't even auctions - they're listed as 'But It Nows'). And no 4 month wait for shipping.
"Important: I will not ship this plant until the weather warms,(Mid April @ the earliest) NO EXCEPTIONS."
It's supposed to have been purchased "a couple years ago" ... but has only 3 leaves & doesn't look to be that mature, to my unexpert eye anyway. I want an Ae'Ae, badly ... but that's just a bit too risky for the prices they've been ending at on eBay lately. Better to wait & straight up buy it later from a nursery or another seller w/ a good rep.
But it sure would be nice in my yard!

Well, Nucci, did you finally get your much expected "construction debris" (LOL)? I, too, received, let me see, 5 messages since you posted your message before Christmas. The latest one was last week. Actually 2 in succession, that they were on the truck, and then, that they were on their way. The corms are coming from Texas, so if they got on the UPS truck last Thursday, they should be here by today. Okay, so it was a holiday last Monday, so let's give her until Friday to see if they actually arrive.

Nucci,
No, I have not received them. But on Dec. 30, she wrote "Howdy from the drowning GrannyP here in Texas. Your trees are on the truck. Will send you the DC number as soon as I can. I am on trip for holidays and do not have access to the file from laptop. Do let me know when they arrive. God Bless and Happy New Year."
Then on Jan. 7, she wrote, "Your tree stalks will go out tomorrows mail. Finally dry enough to ship. Anyproblems let me know. God Bless GrannyP".
And separately (again on 01/07), "INFO on your banana trees stalks.
Once you receave your stalks dont get alarmed...oh how ugly or this dont look like a whole tree. You can take the whole cum(sic)..of the this tree divide as many times as your wish and it will grown...alot of times more than one tree will emerge from the stalking.
Once you receave do not wash or scrub...plant directly into a pot of ground. When you did a spot to place your stalk (and if you got more than one plant together and seperate later on as they get bigger) They love being close by each other...(more)"
Now that I've seen those messages at once, I realize now that I should have gotten those plants by now.

:nanerwaveytrain: people, this is a hoot! I emailed her again and she told me to blame god, not her because of the snow, ice, and crazy weather. The one I DID recieve from the first auction which I said looked like "construction debris" arrived solid brown in color. I took her advice and potted it up DRY and put it under gro lux lights with my other growing nanas. It has been potted at least a month. nothing. So yesterday ! took it out of its pot and was almost completely rotted out. I found one little piece that was the size of a small gladiola bulb that was a little white. I potted it in a little three inch pot (dry) but I think it is gone. Where are you anna?
chong
01-23-2007, 06:44 PM
As I said, I emailed her last Sunday and she'd replied late last night. She says that she emailed me last week (I know she didn't because I still have all my e-mails from last week in my computer) and that the USPS had returned the package because there was no one to receive them, and that the notice slip was ignored. I'm unemployed and looking for work and I'm at my computer all day. And except for when my wife and daughter have to pick up our grandson from school, they're usually home, also. So, like you, I was just handed a line.
I told her to send the items. Let's see if I can get by next week. UPS from Texas only takes 3days to Seattle. USPS Priority Mail from even P. R. takes 2 days. And she sends it USPS, so let's see . . . .
Yeah, Anna, where are you? We're dying for info here.

Wow! Thanks, Anna. They don't look too bad. I think they'll live! I thought they might just be slabs of dug up asphalt paving, but it looks like normal corm with potential puppy eyes  on them. Now, if only Nucci and I can get our orders, we wouldn't be so unhappy.
Sorry about your illness. Hope you're much better now. And thanks again.

Nucci,
Any action on your order for the corms? I just email her again because she did not respond to my email last week. Didn't get my order either.
I just checked her eBay feedbacks. Looks like one of the reasons why she doesn't show any negative feedback is that she contests the negatives and have it withdrawn. So, they don't count to the total score, but the comments remain.

:0491: No chong, nothing yet. the one I did get died. It did look like annas.( thanks anna for pictures) . the lady said "don't wash or scrub it, plant it". I potted it up DRY and put it under the gro-lux tubes with my growing bananas, about amonth ago. nothing. I decided to de-pot it and it was all rotted and soft. no sign of living root or tissue. maybe it was my fault. I have a lot of experience with potted plants (have had a potted med. fan palm for 35 years) but no experience with banana corms. Any bananas i have were purchased live. Maybe it froze coming to me. Anyway they are cheap. the postage is much more than the banana.keep me informed. Bob

I hope you didn't throw it out yet. If there is some mass to the corm, keep it in the soil. It will grow when the weather is warm and sunny. I had a corm from Puerto Rico that grew ever so slowly, then die back because my family couldn't take careof it properly while I went on those FEMA assiegnment. When I got back last July, I thought I'd lost it, because the main plant died and the soil was bone dry. When I was feeling thru the soil in September, to try to save the soil, I noticed that the corm was hard. I nicked the side and saw fresh matter. I promptly put some fungicide on the wound and placed the corm on fresh soil. I kept watering the pot and after 2 months, I saw a sprout. Here's what it looks right now inspite of the power outage and cold weather in the past few weeks.

Just try to keep the soil moist, not wet. I even just left the pot under an Asian pear tree back in September. But it did take several weeks before I saw the sprout thru the soil. Nick the corm about an 8th of an inch to see if there is still a white ""living" cell therein. If there is, swap it with some fungicide (if you have some rootone, use it - rootone has a fungicide mixed with it), and keep it in the moist soil. If you keep it warm enough, it should grow back.

Bob, I forgot. I will certainly keep you posted. I have to tread gently because she appears to be very confrontational when given a negative comment despite her being at fault, as in the case here.
Did you see where she's peddling that 37 presidential signature for $110,000.00? You have to be a really, really presidential nostalgia nut to buy anything like that. I'm an avid Elvis fan, but I wouldn't buy anything in that magnitude for anything Elvis. Even if it's his car. Although, I almost bid on his house in Memphis for $450,000.00. I think that eventually went for $905,100.00. But then, this is different. there's people around the world, including the prime minister of Japan, who might be interested in it in the future.
Speaking of that house, I saw a picture of the rec room, and pinned to the walls were LP covers of albums by Joni James. I'll bet a lot of you don't even know who she is.

Nucci,
I just now got several messages from the possum lady after I emailed her thru her private email, in addition to the eBay message system. To make a long story short, she claims she'd responded to me on the 23 Jan message I sent. Next email was thru her private email and said that she'd responded to my eBay message on the 22 Jan but she'll send me the Delivery Confirmation Number from the USPS. Next she sent an "here it is" message with the DC as "420925039101785091401022410201". I tracked that number and it said that "package was delivered at 1:01 PM on January 11, 2007 in RIVERSIDE, CA92503." So, someone in that locality must have gotten a "bonus shipment" from the possum lady. Anybody you know live in that area??? (hint, hint!)
If it's not you, because you indicated so, someone near you might be getting her shipments. Anyway, track that number up at the USPS site and see if I'm right.
Cheers!

Nucci,
Well, finally, she sent me another Delivery Confimation Number just now, and it said that the package was shipped on Jan. 26, 2007, though it didn't say where it was going. I will keep checking the USPS site daily and let you know if, in fact, it's headed my way. I will be on the road tomorrow on my way to Vegas for a job interview on Monday morning. I'm scheduled to fly back Monday evening at 7:00PM, but I may stay another day if things go well. I will be checking with my family in any case, and I may bring my laptop along if I don't feel too lazy.
Later!

chong, mine was a goner, all soft and mushy, no hard white or green tissue to be found. she should stick to selling .25 books or presidential signatures. I DID see that auction!

I use it (specially for the big sellers that have large feedbacks that are hard to wade through!) to be able to see only the negs/neutral/retracted feedbacks. It's probably saved me a fortune in avoiding the bad sellers. You can go directly to the site, or use the browser plugins. Checks what kind of feedback that has been left for others, as well as received.
It provides a useful tool to compare w/all the positive feedbacks so that buyers can make a more informed decision @ bidding. If I were a seller, I'd use it to check on bidders on high-ticket auctions too. Let's ya weed out the chaff, both ways.
And it's free!
Just as a FYI for the group here ... for future use.

LOL! Chong - that must have been my delivery! But I only got one box with the four corms. No bonuses. :)
She wrote me a couple of days ago asking me to post positive feedback, but that will have to wait until I see some growth.
I take the feedback thing very seriously. For all of the stuff I've purchased on eBay, I've been lucky. I recently had a bad experience with a seller who I've purchased from several times. They sent me the wrong item. I wrote numerous times for WEEKS, with no response. Then I left negative feedback. Heard from them almost immediately. They said they would send the proper item. Several days later they posted negative feedback FOR ME! I was totally livid! (Especially since my feedback was perfect) When I wrote them about it they said it was their policy to leave negatives for anyone who left them negatives. But they would retract if I did. Feedback Blackmail!
Nucci60, I do hope you get some new growth!
Thanks Pithy_Cherub for that link! As much as I use eBay, that is a very useful site!

You're more than welcome! I luuurves me some eBay ... but I've gotten burnt a couple of times. That's when I tripped over the feedback site - it's been quite useful.
I'm still stalking bananas on eBay, though. There are some most excellent sellers to buy from, just stepping carefully!

Nucci,
Fianally! Got my 5 construction debris, oops, corms. These look like sections of a giant taro root (Hawaiian poi). Actually, they're 5 sections cut from the rhizome. Tha'ts probably the problem that you had. Because there is a large exposed portion was not yet dry and you planted the corm in the soil, fungus/mold just set in and rotted the corm. What I will do with mine is rinse the open wound portions of the corms with 8% hydrogen peroxide, then dust it with fungicide before planting them in moist sterile soil. I'll keep you posted on their progress.
BTW, did you ever get yours??? If not, better bug her about them. I just did that.

 Chong, I ended up getting a $5 dollar refund to cover partial shipping. I contacted her about a week ago and was ready to drop the whole matter when she responded that everyone got their order and I got mine on jan6. that got me going. I told her I knew of one other that didn't and she got furious. She accused me of contacting members on ebay and she contacted all her buyers. she even contacted Anna. I told her we only discussed this on a forum and were free to do so. I am banned from her future auctions and was reported to AOBLACKLIST (don't know what that is), so I guess my life is over. Good luck with your 'nanas . I messed up mine, I guess.

:bunchonanas: thanks for the advice, Tammy but you know I am kind of tired of the whole mess. It was not a big deal, just a couple of plants but it turned into a big deal, which I hate. I did not pay for insurance so she didn't even have to pay me the five dollars. I cannot bid on any of her auctuons, but then again why would I want to? Thanks again.

Well,
I guess I won't find out if the corms would actually grow. The weather is perfect today so I went to get the corms to plant. I had them stored in a box in the garage. Gone! I looked everywhere. Then I realized that my husband had cleaned the garage a couple of weeks ago. Apparently he thought it was just a box full of papers. I guess that's what I get for storing my stuff in "his" domain. LOL!
