No, what happened?

(Shhhh! Don't tell anyone)....

Dave sold DG for $(Undisclosed), now it's owned by some big falootin' corporation which has tightened up all the strings causing many of the loyal members to flee to other places, and it's now gravitating toward more of a legacy site/advertising tool. It's sad how it's changed, though the new owners swear they are keeping it the same - all in the same breath of dropping Dave himself from staff. :(

Wow I had no idea. Well I've never been a member there, just never wanted to pay to talk about plants when there so many other places you can talk for free. That really sucks for the members! Sort of like what happened over at GW forums with all the adds....before we had add blockers! I dropped that site off my bookmarks like a hot potato. :ha:

That site is absolutely wrong, using only a basic formula to calculate the supposed value of a site based on the number of hits it registers. The knowledge, history, pictures, information... it's all worth (if not directly in the form of money) much more than any algorithm can put together. And the site hasn't counted in the diversity and loyalty, friendship and fellowship of this site's members.

I tried a website of mine and it says I earn 33 dollarcents daily with ads.
Problem is, there are no ads on the website

You're losing 33c a day then. That is roughly 120$ a year. That could cover your website fees. :ha:

I know Jack, thats true, just wonder how they calculate it, there are way
too much variabels to estimate the (possible)earnings of a Website.

Precisely. Besides, it's not like many people give a damn about those advertisements. :ha:

What?

They bought Vbulletin which runs a huge number of forums. The latest version is a bug filled mess.
