I wish that I had a fig :(. Nice pictures though :)

Is there a flavor difference between the two or is it just a difference in how the fig bush looks?

I have a Brown Turkey Fig!!

It is small and a second year plant for me, but it has set some yummy figs!
And has blessed me with 2 new little trees. :)

Where did you get your Chicago Hardy Sandy? :) ~Cheryl

I got my chicago hardy from ebay. That "wellspring 100" place I think. I bought three of them, planted one out and have two as backups in gallon pots just in case the outdoor one doesn't make it. One of the backups is the one with figs on it. I was hoping to do cuttings of all of them, but I haven't had the time. It was funny--when they came they were like 2" tall and in 2" pots. I would be embarassed to send out such small plants!

1 that was here when I moved in.... I asume it's a "Brown Turkey" but "Celeste " is the other popular one grown here, and a "Sucrette" from Pitangadiego that is bearing in a pot that started as a very small plant in March. I plan on overwintering this one indoors for the first winter.

I've never heard of that variety but the flesh looks delishious! I have 2 black mission and one kadota. All three have a few fruit on them. I can't believe how many varieties there are! Such a good looking plant

Great thread.
Does someone have a pic of a hardy chicago fig cut in half to see the color on the inside?
I'm on yr 1 of growing my plant which is only about 11 inches high and has four leafs.
So looking up pictures of more fully grown plants is great. I hope next year I'll get some fruit.
Then I plan on trying out brown turkey. I found a guy near boston who raises and sells all kinds of varieties. I believe he she ships nationwide. Italian Fig Trees (http://www.figtrees.net)

One brown turkey and one mystery fig. The mystery grows fast but the fruit is very soft and if it drops off of the tree it is a goner. Very sweet but you have to be there when it is ripe and pick it.

LSU Purple, Brown Turkey, Lemon Fig and an Italian Strawberry Fig. I have no idea what the Italian Strawberry fig is. The grower I got it from said his grandmother brought it from Italy. Time will tell. I want to get a Celeste and a black fig if I can find a closed eye that will withstand the heat and humidity of the Southeast.
