It went from wet tropical, to hot, dry desert like conditions in just over a week. Rain has been in the forecast almost every day up till a few weeks ago. With the tropical like conditions, plants grow fast. There is lush growth on all the M. basjoo . It's been so hot here lately, (in the hundreds), with full sun, and no breeze, that the leaves on my M. basjoo are burning. They've been in the same location for many years and this never happened before. Is there anything I should do for them?

Just make sure they are getting enough water to help compensate for the increased heat. Other than that there is not much you can do. They may get a little beat up but they should not die from it.

Hot and dry is not A good combo. You are possibly at the point where the plant cannot take water in as fast as it is loosing it.

If they are sufficiently watered, only other thing to do is increase shade and/or humidity, both of which are not easy to accomplish. Otherwise, you just have to let things take their course.

Misting might cause the droplets to act as magnifying glasses and burn the leaves worse.
Water the bases of the plants if its daytime.

Thanks guys. :woohoonaner:
I checked and the area under the mulch and it was very dry. I drug a water hose to them and soaked their roots good. Later in the evening after the sun was off them, I watered again and wet the leaves good as well. :goteam: They look much happier this morning, but still have the sun the burn. New leaves should cover that soon anyway if they keep growing like they have been. I'm gonna give them another good soaking this evening. :bed:

BTW. As for frying the leaves, LOL I have a neighbor that uses the banana leaves to wrap food in to cook.
