I will have some free banana plants this fall when I divide & bring them in for the winter - cavendish & zebrina and also some EE bulbs. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY - sorry absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS - I ain't shipp'in these folks. Depending on the # of responses, I'd prefer to "spread the wealth". Not sure what I'll have by Oct. - maybe a 12+ of ea. I'm just north of Cincinnati, OH near KI. Various heights - 1' -6'? I tried to post this in the 'for sale' section but apparently I do not have enough "banana bucks" & have zero interest lol to earn them... I quit posting on these sites - been there done that...I only bring in a few naners anymore & hate to throw these guys in the compost. Prefer a trade for diff banana or cold hardy palm but no biggie. I already have/don't need: musa basjoo, zebrina & "dwarf" cavandish. I have the responses set to forward to my email & let you know more in Sept. I usually start in early Oct. depending on the frost forecast. If I don't get a trade, these guys are free or compost. Note: I only divide my musa basjoos in the early/mid spring and they would be for trade only - given my climate & then season..., theres never a need to just pitch them...

In the spirit of sharing the wealth, I just donated 1,000 banana bucks to you. Takes a while to show up.
That rascal Tony has been posting like crazy lately (he doesn't work and just sits around watching folks pour concrete, tear out the concrete, and pour concrete again) and has already passed me up so I'm giving up! :ha:

Thats nice of you to give away your extra plants. I may be interested in some EE and a zebrina. What kind of EE do you have?

I don't have cavendish & zebrina and might be interested in driving up as I could be driving up to Florence around the first half of Oct anyway. I have extras each fall of Dwarf Orinoco, Bronze Laterita, Butterfly Ginger, Canna Musafolia, Canna Intrigue, Stuttgart Canna, an EE that I don't know the name of... it's the kind that has the leaves that shoot up like spears.
Let me know if any of those interest you for a trade! :D

I'm not sure what they are called...I have 2 diff ones. One is an upright and think some call it a 'persian palm'. It has thick leathery leaves just shy of 4' w/ an overall heighth of 5'. The other kind I would call just a plain 'traditional'/non upright...4' leaves are common on mine w/ an over hieghth of 6-7'. I haven't been fertilizing any of my plants very much this year so nothing is as big as yrs past...

I'm only a few miles from you daryl over in Colerain.
I may be interested in a few, although fortunately mine have been pupping like crazy this year. Heck come spring though I'm ready to get out of the house and do some planting. The more beds the less grass mowing :)
I have a pretty good size warehouse to store them in over the winter if I can get a box truck onto your property and no one else wants them I'll take 'em off your hands. :)
Thanks to this board and the everyone here I think the neighbors think I'm a fanatic, not to mention what my wife thinks.
Although during the summer it gives the phrase "welcome to the jungle" a whole new meaning..lol

I'll let you know. Hopefully I have a trade with one of the posters for a dwarf orinoco(ehem CookieCows...), but other than that they're yours. There's plenty! Not sure I have enough to warrant a box truck unless your goal is to try transporting with all their leaves AND keep them going all winter vs. letting them go dormant- no wind burn in the box truck transporting them...I generally cut the big/fat ones so the puesdostem is only a couple feet high(no more leaves), put the root ball in a heavy-duty contractor bag and store them in a dark corner of my basement. They're maybe 80lbs at this point. Other than a couple potted ones on my deck that become houseplants for the winter, I don't have a place to "keep em' going". At any rate there's enough for at least a pick-up truck. Once they get dug up and seperated, they always seem much bigger...Also, I have a couple upright elephant ears for you have if you like. If you had the box truck, you could try digging up a couple and see if they could overwinter in the warehouse - I'm curious about that. I overwintered a big upright elephant ear in my kitchen last winter for the first time and its still doing great but its ALWAYS been in a pot - never transplanted. It takes a 2-wheeler to move that guy...It was kind of huge in my kitchen lol...With most of my EE's I dig up, I clip the leaves/stems, dry out for a month and then store in boxes over the winter, like coconuts lol. Anymore I just keep the biggest ones and pitch the rest. The bulbs don't do so well in the compost...(think gooey melted marshmallow). Btw, I have some good castor bean seeds. I've had an "unsual" summer so I haven't had as much time to spend watering and fertilizing my jungle like I normally would. I only have 4 castor bean plants this year. The tallest one is 17' so far - should be closer to twenty feet by now... They're staked but a good "hurricane" aftermath/strong wind sometimes spells doom.
Hopefully this "global warming" continues, but I'm probably looking like the second week of Oct. as a guess...

Thanks daryl...sorry I've been out of the loop the past few weeks but I've just been extremely busy with work. :)
Anyway...the box truck is more for my back and convenience more then anything........plus then my employees can just wheel them off the truck at the dock right into the warehouse ....hahaha
I've had a good summer with my EEs also, Do the same, cut 'em and store them for the winter. They are about 6' tall and have never seen them get that big and the leave are enormous this year.
My Castor beans not even close to what they were last year and I added manure and watered them good all summer. Not sure what's up with them this year but it sounds like it isn't just me.
:ha:I understand about the wind, they always get mine ever year, them and my Hibiscuses.
Keep in touch and let me know what you have left, you can go ahead and cut 'em as necessary I sure don't have the room for them any other way.
Hopefully I'll be able to till up a few more beds before winter so they are ready for the spring.
My only dilemma at the moment is I have to make a trip to Shanghai the second week of Oct so I'm hoping the weather either holds out until I get back. or i find the time somehow to take care of everything before I leave which doesn't look like it's even remotely going to happen.
