The 2010 Pitahaya Field Day is scheduled for Thursday – August 12, 2010 at the South Coast Research and Extension Center in Irvine. This year’s field day is included as a tour/field visit for the CRFG Festival of Fruit which will take place Saturday - August 14, 2010 at Cal Poly Pomona.
Tentative Agenda:
8:00 – 9:00 SIGN UP
9:00 – 10:30 Field visit for discussion on variety trials and trellis system demonstration (Tram leaves promptly at 9:00 am)
10:30 –12:00 Pitahaya industry/research reports from California (Ramiro Lobo), Hawaii (Brad Hunter - invited) and Mexico (Arnoldo Michel Rosales)
12:00 noon Sampling of pitahaya/dragon fruit varieties / ADJOURN
Registration: Paid CRFG Festival of Fruit attendees and others are welcome to participate in this event. There is no additional registration fee to attend the Pitahaya/Dragon Field Day but we require that you RSVP by calling or emailing Barbara Henderson at 760-752-4724 or Barbara.Henderson@sdcounty.ca.gov so we can make proper arrangements for transportation to and from the field trials.
Cuttings/Fruit: Free cuttings or fruit will not be distributed at the pitahaya/dragon fruit field day.
Location: The pitahaya/dragon fruit field day will be at the UC South Coast Research and Extension Center located at 7601 Irvine Blvd, Irvine, CA 92618.
