Hey, don't know if you all saw or not but the Dominican Republic is experiencing a lot of heavy rain and flooding at the moment. Cassie, we hope you are OK!

We exchanged a few PMs yesterday, so I guess and hope that Cassie's OK.
DR is (unfortunatelly) not the only place with floodings. I've read about Central America, Northern Brazil... Lots of rains in the tropics these weeks.

Island Cassie? She helped me with information on growing blackberries yesterday. I definitely hope she's all right! If you see this thread, let us know!

I surely hope so. She's probably out helping the folks that are victims, but hope she has a safe return if out in it.. :^)

I missed national news today. Our local news stayed on to report on our floods. We had 8 inches in just over 2 hours. Hoping Cassie is OK.

Thanks for your concerns guys (and gals!). The heavy rain is in the south and far east of the island, and we are on the north coast near the border with Haiti, so far away this time. This kind of rainfall is normal for this time of year but on the north coast we have only had half an inch a night which barely keeps the nanas watered. But I am sure we will get our share here before the hurricane season ends! :ha:

Gald to hear all is well. I will be south of you in a couple of months. Going to Aruba! Gabe just told me that he thinks he remembers seeing pictures of banana farms in Aruba. I'll have to check in to that!

Brent - I have never been to ABC (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) but I am sure you will have a great time, and that close to Venezuela they MUST have bananas unless the island is an arid one. Enjoy your trip - I bet you can hardly wait!!

Aruba is quite arid from what I've read. The only get something like 18 or 19" of rain per year on average. I'm looking forward to going nevertheless.
