Well, I'm glad I can be an inspirational banana grower to someone! :ukkibannana:
I can't imagine digging that beast out, but it will be a reality next spring when I remove about 2/3 of my Apples and about 2/3 of my Reds to make room for other varieties! I'm not really looking forward to it, but I'm sure the return will be well worth the work.
I guess I should get a list going of locals who want to dig out some huge corms and pups for free!

Those people will sure enjoy it!
If you want, I will buy a Red from you come spring....and not give you shoot about shipping costs this time! (I will have a job then, and please excuse my language) But if not, I understand (leaning under the plant, digging a plant for someone you don't know, I get it=])I have DR, but not Tall Red, which I think tall varieties add a completely different feel to a place.
You grow such healthy plants, and you like growing them, which many other people do, but that picture just AMAZES me.

It's a Hawaiian Apple. At the time the picture was taken and posted it was 50" around! I don't know what it is now? Maybe I should measure again!! :weightliftingnaner:

If your serious about removing some pups or large corms send me a pm so I can keep track of who wants what. Towards the end of winter I'll start contacting people in the order they pm me. Time is of the escence her because I have lots of new plants to get in the ground as early as possible and I would like to share the pups/corms with as many local growers as possible. I would imagine that there will be about 20 pups of varying sizes of both Red and Apples plus the large mother corms. By removing these it will provide me the space to plant 4 different varieties! At that point I will have at least 11 varieties planted in the ground in my small yard.
If I have to dig them myself then I'll pot and sell them. :2729:

That sounds like so much fun I was considering flying in from Florida... for about 10 seconds. Digging that huge corm, w/ people who didn't think this hobby is crazy, would be a hell of a day. "No, Officer, there isn't a body in the trunk! I always take my pickaxe to a party."
