Greetings from IL, my seed starting experience ranks in at about 1 month now. Back then I took a trip to a local greenhouse to replace an Aloe plant that was over-watered. While I was there a large overpriced palm caught my eye and I began to wonder if I could grow something like that from seed.

I placed my first order from seedman.com last month, I didn't realize it at the time but the small seed packs weren't putting the germination odds in my favor. A month later I'm still learning but have 2 pretty cool plants to show for it. I put my second order to banana-tree.com today after reading the forums. I'll be trying bananas again in much larger quantities as they were my original goal in my first order.

Here's some pics of what I've setup:

Grow Station - 3 Levels - 6 Bulbs - 2 Fans - Timer 16 on / 8 off

Scott

Welcome to the site! I wish you the best of luck with your plants. Just realized bananas can be difficult to germinate, depending on the variety....and they often take a long time to do so. It's easier to buy small plants from online stores, IMO. Saves time and frustration. Either way, enjoy the site!

Welcome from the beautiful state of Maryland. Indeed, I'm another Desert Rose lover. What color/variety do you have?

I'm not sure, the website (2010 Exotic Plant and Garden Seed Catalog (http://www.seedman.com)) didn't list a color. Hopefully I will get to see someday. I planted 4 seeds and ended up with 1 plant so I'm pretty happy. :)
