Hello,
My Orinoco is in a greenhouse and it finaly began to fruit a few weeks ago and I was wondering how long it would be before the fruit will be ready to eat? Just kinda curious.
Thank you, Jamie

Depending on climate, 6 months is a good estimate to start with. Mark the date of flowering on the stem with a big felt marker, so you will known how long it took when they do finally ripen.
My Orinocos took 4 month to start turning yellow on the stem. You can harvest some of them green and use as plantains. Once you cut the raceme, they will all ripen at once--so unless you want a bunch ripe at the same time, I suggest harvesting a hand at a time and maybe trying a few green.

Wow! That is a long time! I hope they ripen before winter hits. During the winter even in my heated greenhouse they just sit there all winter waiting for spring! Boy, do I hate winter.
