MY mom bought this from a company and they said that it was a raja puri but it has red on the stem and it does not look like one to me. can anyone help to i.d. this banana please.

I second that motion on the Dwarf Red.. Looks like its got a case of Heat Exhaustion.. :^)

I think a Dwarf Red too. Mine was droopy after I re-potted it.

My mom bought this she was told it was a Rajapuri i dont think Rajapuri has red on the p steam i might be wrong the leaves look diffrent but the colors of the p steam look the same.

That's what I was seeing ,the leaves on D.Red grow more erect not droopy. I think it's two different plants

looks like my Pysang Ceylon same color stem and all I looked at pysang ceylon on another webb site it had all green p steam i lookd on Wiki here could not tell it was a grown banana with fruit by the looks of that pic it dont look like mine i not saying your wrong what i seen may have not right.

the one I have looks just like your plant it has red in the stem and in the center of the leaves but I bought it as pysang ceylon it may not be what I bought. so we both may find out something from this thread.

Pisang Ceylon maroon coloring on the underside of leaves,.

it has a slight maroon tint under the leaves more of a gray maroon color, and maroon stems down the center of the leaves.

This does look like Dwarf Red to me also.
Never trust the label if you are not confident about the source.
I got an African Rhino Horn marked as a Raja Puri once.

No doubt Dwarf Red..great banana..although not the most cold hardy. Dwarf red are nice banana plants as for the cold i will bring it my house or greenhouse Thanks .
