My Musa has not yet successfully had pups. It has had 3 beginnings of pups that got to be about an inch high and then turned black and disappeared.
Otherwise it is a nice plant, about 4 feet high. Lives in a pot - outdoors in summer, inside in winter.

Sounds like the soil is to moist or they would've kept growing unless there are other factors.. that could contribute.

is it a clay pot? maybe its drying the pups up before they can grow.

Sound like you need a bigger pot.
I would ground plant it and dig up for the winter, it's really the
only way to get full growth.

Mine pup like crazy in the ground or in pots. I give them lots of high nitrogen fertilizer and find that when the plant is stressed (ie. cold) the more pups they send out. I have one planted in a half oak barrel with 12 pups. Too many :)
If you want more pups maybe try to leave it out longer and store it in a cooler area for the winter.

Only 4ft after 2 years probably means that your container is too small. If you put them in the ground, you should be getting pups much faster since the roots get to roam freely and they probably won't abort either since the ground has better moisture control.
I had mine in 2 gallon pots for a while and they grew pretty slowly, but once I put them in the ground 2 weeks ago, they really jumped in size so I don't think banana plants really like growing in pots.

It is in a big plastic pot. I can't plant in the ground - don't have any ground. I live in a second story apartment with a balcony. It lives outside all summer.

How big is this "big pot" 5gal, 15gal.... most people here say that a "normal sized" banana needs at least a 15gal, and many need a 30gal.
