It looks like Ensete Maurelii has more red on the top of the leaves. Try Ensete ventricosum in the WIKI and see if this looks more like your plant. Either way its nice looking.

It don't think its an EM but some other inetible? EM's I've seen before are much more impressive compared to this slouch.. Maybe it hasn't been cared for in a while? :^)

Ensete Ventricosum 'maurelii'....I'd bet money on it. Even considering the context....maurelii is a very common landscaping plant available at places like Homo Depot. E. ventricosum (regular) is not widely sold at such places. As far as the leaf coloring, it's highly variable from my experience (even on the same plant) and can come and go depending on conditions (though it does not seem to be definitively known what causes the coloration to come out...it doesn't seem to be sunlight as in Siam Ruby).

I didn't get that one.. I got a smaller version and am growing it myself.. to see how long it takes to get a decent size. The one in the pic looked like crap to me vs. some I had seen @ lowe's. My lil feller is chuggin' along. :^)
