I have 3 Ae Ae that I planted late last summer that are now putting out some strange leaves. The white parts of the leaves resist the natural unfurling process whereby the leaves come out with a pinched look around the white areas.

We've had a really cool spring 50s-60s for the last 3-4 months here in Ventura, CA. Also, it's been pretty humid in general. I'm hoping that warmer weather will bring them back to their old selves.

Has anyone experienced this with their Ae Ae? The plants seem to be doing really well in general as I've counted 22 pups so far this spring between the three 3 of them (though 2 were albino).

I'll try to post some pics here in a few.

Hi Andy, I would love to see some pictures of yours. Twenty-two pups is awesome! If you want to sell any, let me know. I'm right here in Camarillo.

I haven't had the problem you are talking about, but mine are just planted in the ground. I bet it will go away as the heat arrives.

My first love, my son Alexander (second love to my wife of course)... the Ae Ae are the three to the right of him

Closer image of three 8-10 ft Ae Ae. You can see an albino pup in the left-front foreground

As seen on the right side of the leaf it is so tightly curled that I cannot unroll it by hand without tearing it.
