Hi

I am planting some Basjoos around my pool in the back yard. In order to get a nice coverage around the pool what would you recommend as the minimum distance between two plants?

I am leaning toward 3 feet in order to get good coverage. (live in Dallas TX btw)

Thanks

3-4 feet sounds about right. I plant mine that distance apart and it creates a nice, lush canopy, especially when the pups start coming out. However, I'm no expert, but I don't think all the chemicals from the pool water is healthy for bananas when you splash/dive around. But then again, it depends how far from the pool they. Maybe someone else could give some input on this.

Thanks for the replies. I have regular Chlorine pool but I only plan Basjoo and Chinese Yellow Bananas around the pool. The more fragile and edible varieties will be away from the pool.

I have some Orinoco planted behind my pool spaced from 2.5'-3' they are doing fine. I wouldn't have planted them that close if getting fruit was a goal, of course that is not a concern with your basjoo. I have not noticed any issues from the occasional splash of pool water. I do have an an ozone system so the the chlorine level is lower than a standard system.
