So I have been seeing Ae Aes on ebay lately.... one recently sold for $164.07 inc. S&H

HAWAIIAN AE AE BANANA PLANT -RARE- Variegated Leaves - eBay (item 220610258889 end time May-30-10 18:00:27 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220610258889)

Correct me if I am wrong but, this pup did not have any leafs out and thereby it is unknown if the leafs will be variegated? I thought not all Ae Ae pups had variegation. If that's the case, 164 is a lot to spend.

I have a Ae Ae my self if you look at the petioles they are white which indicates it should be a variegated.

I wouldn't of separated the pup that small though....

I have a pup that I am getting ready to sell, just want to see it push out one more leaf after re-potting it.

Hi,

you could trust this seller. I bought one myself last October and it's à beauty. Check my pics. And it arrived perfectly after travelling halfway around the globe.
If it would to expensive? This has everybody to decide for itself.

Any chance on tissue culturing this banana, like they did with Siam ruby? I remember when they were $100, and now they are $10.:waving:

Considering that bananas dont like being shipped, I would like to see how such a tiny ae ae actually survives to see there owner. I really like Ae Ae's but they are a little too expensive right now (if I lived in a tropical climate these would probably be the first bannas on my property!).

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully these go down in price in the near future!

I doubt that the prices will come down in the near future, as these bananas can't be tissue cultured. This fact has often been discussed here.
But I can tell you, that a healthy pup can survive a long jouney. Mine travelled from Hawaii to Greece in a week and was perfectly allright. And I bought it from these guys who offer it now. If you feel to have it and the price is okay for you, get it.

ya the topic of Ae Ae prices coming down has been discussed a few times every year on here either someone wishful thinking or someone starting a rumor that they are being produced on a large scale. They are a beautiful plant that require a lot of special care and attention to keep them alive and are rare because of that and will continue to be so...

Guess I need to start a new thread on the Poor man's AE.. to see all those who buy them and show their results down the road. :^) You can't beat paying $20 & you never know what you'll end up with.. :^)
