I'm getting fed up with this lark, I've lost count of the number of seeds I've tried planting over the months and had nothing grow. The seeds are fine. I've bought them from reputable seed sellers on here.
I've tried in heated and non heated propogation, in light and no light... nothing.
I soaked the seeds for 4 days as well.
Where am I going wrong ?

How many are you planting at a time? You need at least 50 to get any kind of return.Banana seeds have about 5% germination rate, so if you plant 10 that's half a seed, which means you'd be lucky.
It doesn't really matter who you buy them from it's the collectors who don't treat the seeds with as much love as they need, also the fruit are picked when they haven't properly ripened.
This is what used to frustrate me, but then I started planting lots of seeds and they started to come up.
Also look at the germination thread.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Yep been doing them in 5s and 10's. I've been getting really annoyed about them and seeing the reports on here of everyone's growing and flowing.... and there's me staring at a warm dirt ....again!!
I'd followed instructions from the germination section to the letter. Oh well.. I guess I need to keep trying.

There are several methods that seem to work for different people. You need to read them all and try and find out which is best for you. All the information you need is in those threads, that's how I did it. Believe me it takes a lot of failures before you get anywhere.
Also generally Ensetes are easier to germinate and hybrid musa like sikkimensis 'dajeeling giant'. Or velutina if you can get fresh seed will come up in about three weeks.
Good luck.

Most of the seeds I've bought have looked like hardened black small stones ( no wonder they need soaking ) with a small eye, which I assume is the eye of the seed. This description matches 90% of the seeds no matter which buyer I've brought from.
Current batch has been there for about 3 weeks but from what I've seen on here I need to leave them for up to 6 months, Is that right ?

rarepalmseeds.com - palm seeds, cycad seeds, banana seeds (http://www.rarepalmseeds.com/small.shtml)

Best Priced Banana Seeds | Banana plant | Best Priced Aroid Seeds | Aroids | Gingers | Plants | Trebrown Nurseries | Online Shopping for bananas (http://www.trebrown.com/shop/bananas.php)
Tropical and Traditional Flower and Vegetable Seeds from JungleSeeds (http://www.jungleseeds.co.uk/SeedOrders/enter.html?lang=en-uk&target=d1.html)
These should help you on your way
Rarepalmseeds are in Germany and take about 4 weeks to deliver.
europalms are in Belgium - I use these suppliers a lot - they also take about 4 weeks to deliver
trebrown are in the UK, but their selection is more palm seeds than bananas.
jungleseeds are also UK based, they have a good selection for the beginner.
They all sell ensetes try ventricosum or Glaucum to start with. You don't need lots because they germinate a lot more readily.
Have fun

soak them about 2 days in a nice warm thermos full of water. Change the water in the morning and at night to warm water again. Then give them a nice bath for about 5 minutes in 2 T bleach in a cup of water, rinse then plant. Put your seeds in a good sterile seed starting mix in clean containers in a clean flat with a clean lid. Put those ensete seeds in a place at least 80 degrees. 90 is even better and keep them covered. You should see something kicking in about a month, but don't expect high germination rates. Right now I have 5/100 in 3 weeks, on ensete ventricosum. I do expect a few more though.

Wow you chose some difficult ones to germinate.
You'll have better luck with the Venticosum, keep an eye on them because they may surprise you.
