I noticed today my Basjoo seems to have "split". Is this a cause for concern? We had high winds in a storm last night that might be a culprit? Thanks,

Were you having any issues before it split apart? It looks kinda like you had a leaf unfurling early and that is why it fell apart. I am no expert but i would suggest leaving it alone for about a week or two and see if it shoots out some new leaves if it does i would then trim the old ones off that fell over and it should be ok. Crazy pic though thanks for posting and good luck.

I'd just leave it alone for a while until it starts growing more normally, and then cut off those leaves. It was probably just weak anyway and the wind does that to some around here too. It happens quite a lot around here with ensetes, but they recover.

Yeah, I'd just let it be and I bet money it will recover and be perfectly healthy in a few weeks. You're likely to lose all the leaves that got split-off, but new ones will come through to replace them. I suggest leaving the leaves on there intact for now (until they turn brown) as they will help provide food for the plant while it recovers.

Good! I appreciate the help. I noticed today it's growing 3 pups so I guess that's a good sign.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a257/conrailfan/IMG_6127.jpgWhat is the problem with the leaves themselves? A couple of my basjoos are having some of their new growth get big brown patches like on your leaves.:waving:
