I have this banana that is about 7' tall. It is developing leaves on the top and in the middle. Is this a form of choking? I remember seeing this happen to someone else before. Should I cut off the top?

I first posted about it here. http://www.bananas.org/f12/unidentified-11450.html

I think we need a better view. Looks more like a pup running up the side of the mother as low to the ground as it is..

Dean,

I think the p-stem was bruised / damaged during the harvest or transporting before you purchased it and it is showing up now.

Last week, I became a little suspicious when one of mine hadn't push a new leaf for a week. I cleaned it up and found a little rot hidden a couple layers in. I looks like it was bruised from rough handling. I cut off the bad spot and sprayed it with an anti fungal. It is growing normally now.

Thanks Dave! I was thinking of cutting the top portion off, but then I saw the third stem coming out.

I'd leave it to survival of the fittest :^)
