The historic Botanical Building was one of the world's largest wood-lath structures when built in 1915

To spend a holiday as well. Really rich in flora.

I especially liked the flesh-eating plants, do you have more mix of them?

Nepenthes, the last picture, is a flesh eating plant. An excellent specimen, when mature, it can eat a rodent. ;)

YouTube - Mouse gets eaten by Nepenthes carnivorous plant! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJCaG4tOaAU)

Or I might be wrong, looks very similar.

Which picture are you referring to? I didn't see any in the photos. I think you mean carnivorous plants, though. There were some Paphiopedilum orchids, which have a pouch, which might have made you think of 'flesh-eating'.

I really like the Paph. lowii!! Very nice!

Sunfish - nice photos. Thanks for sharing. I've only been to San Diego once, and only went to the zoo. I remember Balboa Park being there, but don't recall going in.

Nice! Were any of those, or any other orchids, naturallized, actually growing attached to trees? That would be cool to see! They have the right climate there for some of the sub-tropical epiphytes.

Now I want to go to the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens, and then the Regional Parks Botanic Garden. Both in Berkeley and very very close to each other. The later is free and is all native plants. I love our native plants of California.
