Just came back from a store with fruit and I ll try to root Ananas :).
Would small pinch of roting hormone do the job?

I twist the top off and then peel back the small, lower leaves until about 2-3cm of bare stem is exposed. I usually plant directly into the ground, but containers also work fine if the soil is kept a little moist. They are very easy to root, but can be tricky to have flower at the right time. They are still fun to grow though.

they still may rot. they most failproof way is too just put it in a jar filled with water until roots develop

then plant in the ground
Del Monte Gold is amazingly sweet when left to fully ripen. i think it was actually developed to be picked green
