I've been having a play around with this auxin and nitrozyme as germination promoters.
Has anyone else tried using IAA to aid germination? I had some musa velutina seeds left over from last year and as all my plants died over winter I'd have a go at germinating some.
I soaked a batch in water for 48 hours then I split the batch into 2 and one half I soaked in nitrozyme 1ml/l and the other I soaked in 75ppm IAA for 24 hours.
I planted them and hoped for the best, the seed is a year old so I wasn't expecting much. To my surprise 4 of the nitrozyme seeds germinated within 3 weeks (2 died, damping off, grrrrr). I have just noticed that 5 of the IAA soaked seeds have sprouted a week later.
I had no control so this isn't a scientific study, but I'm definately going to try it again with some other seeds.
