I am interested in acquiring this tree. Has anyone grown them in zone 7? I've seen a few around here; one is approx. 40 ft. tall, so I know some can survive here. Any help would be appreciated.

Monkey puzzle trees are very cool trees indeed! I've never actually seen one in real life (and they probably won't survive our climate, but I still love the way they look. Here's a site that sells them (http://www.forestfarm.com/product.php?id=524).

I used to visit a relative in Port Townsend Wa and they had lots of them there and I fell in love with them then. A school here is having a huge plant sale on Mother's Day weekend that I attend and I got there catalog of what's going to be there and low and behold the Monkey Puzzle is among the plants. 1 gallon pots $15.00 so if I am lucky to get one before all gone I will be a happy camper, description says can be grown in a container and treat similiar to Norfolk Island Pine so :woohoonaner:

Ive seen 2 growing over here in the NYC area (thats 2 around my neighborhood, there are probably others around). One is pretty big (maybe about 15 feet tall) and the other one is still young (around 4 or 5 feet tall) and the smaller one is right by the water with the bigger one being a few blocks inland. They are not protected and are prefectly green. I have never seen them for sale, but they are definitely zone 7 plants and do great over here.

Good luck!
