can anybody out there give me advice and walk me through this??? i live in michigan and have 2 basjoos ive had in pots inside over winter. there about 3 feet tall. the stalks are not that thick. i moved them to the covered porch to get them ready for ground planting. well the little bit of wind there was .... bent the one plant totally in half [from the stalk] i have it propped with a stake right now. do i cut it and let it start over? i almost think it would do better in the ground.. im really new to this and dont know what to do. help!!!!!

Hello!

That happend to mine last year. I had to cut just below the bent part and it just grew back from there.

Yes cut it below the bend, and for best results after your last frost plant it in the ground until fall....Good Luck. If you thirst for more info use the search option at the top right and type in Basjoo or any other topic you like.

Well, you could try to prop it, but then again, the likelihood that it'll grow enough to strengthen up and not need the propping is not very likely. I'd do as others have said...cut it just below the bend. I know it's hard to do such a thing to a nice plant, but it won't hurt it and it's very early in the growing season, so it won't set it back much at all.

I'd do just like the previous said.. It works (definately sucks), and is highly effective (One step back all the rest forward ) :^)

thanks for the info. i brought mine in again because of the weather. it really sucks but to cold. anyway, i was looking at it today and really dont see a bend in the stalk anymore. i do see a new leaf coming up so thats good right? should i leave it alone still??:waving:

Well, if the bend in the stem has resolved, definitely just let it do its thing.
