Brian (or anyone else) - Can you please tell me how I can stop the e-mail notifcations, every time someone respons to a thread that I, at one time, had posted to. It was nice, at first, when I asked a question and could say, "Oh, someone's answering." Now, however, I feel I don't need to be notified if someone responds to a thread where I had posted something like, "Looking good." three years ago.
Could you give me a step by step, with maybe a couple of screen shots, to show me where to click. I thought I had done everything that was listed in the Hints, but I'm still getting 'em. Thanks.

Default Thread Subscription Mode
When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

Or there is a rolling menu below each typing window, just scroll down, find "Thread Subscription", "Notification Type" and choose your desired notification.

I have a full step-by-step description of how to change your email notifications here (http://www.bananas.org/f5/lilraverbois-helpful-hints-11202.html#post122904). This is one of the posts in the "LilRaverBoi's Helpful Hints" thread I made which is stickied at the top of the Site Help & Feedback forum.
Basically go to the user CP, click on 'edit options' on the left bar, then scroll down to the drop-down menu under 'default thread subscription mode.' Change that to 'no email notifications' and you're good!
Hope that helps!

LOL...good call! I guess I forgot that step on my list of instructions (though that's probably hugely important). Just updated the hints page.
Thanks!

Did what you said, and it doesn't work or, at least, doesn't work all the time. For instance, I got the PM that you (Brian) sent me, stating that you had replied to my question, but I did not get an e-mail notification of that reply. However, I have gotten several notifications since then again.

Okay, here's the deal. The Defaut Thread Subscription Mode will only work from that point on (after you change the setting and beyond). However, the threads you have previously posted in (your 'subscribed threads') may still have the old settings so you will have to manually change these settings. Here's what you need to do:
-Find 'Quick Links' in the blue banner at the upper R
-Click it and select 'Subscribed Threads'
-Once there, you will see a list of your subscribed threads and the email notification settings for each. You want them all to say 'none'....otherwise you will continue to receive email updates for those threads. All the threads that do not have 'none' listed under the notification column are the ones giving you problems...and email updates will be sent when new posts are made.
-The easiest way to select a large group of them to change (rather than selecting every single one via the boxes on the R) is to click the first box at the top R above all the little boxes (directly to the R of 'notification' in the bar at the top). This will select all the threads for that page of subscriptions.
-Scroll down and find the drop-down beside where it says 'Selected Threads' and click 'No Email Notifications'
-Click 'Go'
This will change the settings for all the threads on that page to 'no email notifications.' Unfortunately, you will probably have to do this on every page of your subscribed threads. You have a lot of posts, so you probably have a lot of them...therefore, this may be a somewhat tedious process of click click select click....but that will remove all the email notifications for these threads.
Hope that helps. I'm sure this process isn't very much fun, but I have done it before....and once it's done (and you have the default setting changed as you do now) then you won't ever have to do it again.
